Philip is a travel writer and guidebook author specialized in Africa. He first backpacked between Nairobi and Cape Town in 1986 and has traveled around Africa regularly ever since. In the 1990s, he wrote new Bradt Guides to several destinations then practically uncharted by the travel publishing industry, including Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique and Rwanda.
