Ankarafantsika can be visited throughout the year. Lemurs can be seen at any time and crocodiles are easiest to spot in the Dry season months from July to October. The park is especially known for reptiles and birding: the best time for these sightings is after the first rains in November. However, January to March tends to be oppressively hot.

Best Time November to December (Good for birds and reptiles)

High Season July and August and December holidays (The park doesn't get very busy)

Low Season November to March (It rains a lot)

Best Weather July to September (It is cooler and less humid)

Worst Weather December to March (It is very hot and rainy)

April to October Dry Season Winter

Dry weather, blue skies
Hiking is easier in cooler and less humid conditions
Lemurs can be found throughout the year
July to October is best to see crocodiles
Reptiles and amphibians are less active from June to October
Birding is not as good

November to March Wet Season Summer

Nocturnal mammals are more active
This is the best time for reptiles
October to December are the best bird-watching months
It is very hot and humid
Rain can interfere with hiking
