Arusha – Serengeti National Park (Kogatende Region)

After enjoying breakfast, you will be transferred to Arusha Airport for your flight to the Kogatende area in the Northern Serengeti. This short flight will provide you with a stunning aerial view of Tanzania. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your Shadows of Africa driver. The Lobo area encompasses a wide valley characterized by sparse woodlands and open savannah, ensuring a year-round presence of lions, leopards, and elephants. The landscape also features kopjes (small hills), and to the east, there are forested hills where most of the tented lodges are located. You will spend the day exploring this unique and beautiful region of the park in search of the wildebeest migration and the Big Five.

In the afternoon, you will have the option to extend your game drive until sunset or partake in one of the optional activities offered at your lodge. These activities often include nature walks, visits to local villages, and night game drives outside the park.

Serengeti National Park (Kogatende Region)

After having breakfast, we will commence our game drive in the Kogatende area, where we will search around the kopjes for carnivores and large groups of the migration preparing to cross the Mara River into Kenya.

Our journey will then take us to the Bologonja and Wogatende areas, where we will eventually reach the Mara River itself. This river is home to a significant population of hippos and Nile crocodiles, and it serves as the final major obstacle for the wildebeest migration before they can reach the relative safety of the Masai Mara in Kenya. If you are patient and fortunate, you might even witness the thrilling river crossing, where wildebeest and zebras brave the river's currents and the presence of crocodiles in their attempt to reach safety on the opposite bank.

After this exciting day of wildlife observation, you will enjoy dinner and spend the night in the heart of the Serengeti National Park, staying in accommodation that aligns with your chosen standard and preferences.
