Arrive in Windhoek

On arrival at Windhoek International Airport, we will meet our guide and transfer to Windhoek. After checking into our hotel, we can relax or go on an optional three-hour city and township tour. With the guidance of a local guide, we will explore Windhoek's history and people. After our tour, we will be dropped off at our hotel, where we can relax by the pool or take an early dinner (own expense) at any of the excellent restaurants, all within walking distance.

Windhoek to the Namib Desert

We start early with a transfer shuttle to the departure point (Truckport in Olympia) for a 7:00am departure from Windhoek. Our shuttle takes us out of Windhoek, through the mountain ranges, and into the Namib Desert. We arrive at the Namib Desert around midday and will be dropped off at our lodge, where we will settle in for the next two nights. In the afternoon, we discover Gondwana Namib Park, taking a sundowner drive to explore the fossilised dunes above the plateau and the many wonders of the Namib Desert.

Explore Sossusvlei

We depart at dawn from camp to arrive at the Namib-Naukluft National Park gate at sunrise. We drive down an ancient river bed surrounded by towering dunes to the 2x4 parking area (around 55km). From here, we head into the Sossusvlei area to appreciate the beauty of the early morning light, peace, and tranquillity. We explore this unique area on foot before heading into Deadvlei with its large expanse of bleached, cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees, contrasting with a backdrop of massive dunes with ever-changing colours before returning to our vehicle. We will stop at the famous Dune 45 as we drive back to our accommodation. You can climb the dune or wander around its base. We make our way back to our lodge early afternoon and have the rest of the day at leisure to relax or enjoy an optional activity, such as a self-guided hike or an e-bike adventure.

Return to Windhoek

Enjoy a leisurely morning for the last time to embrace the spoils of the Namib Desert. You can embark on an optional activity or spend the morning enjoying a lie-in, a late breakfast, and then some time by the pool. When the time comes, we will board the shuttle and return to Windhoek, arriving late afternoon. Check-in and then relax at The Windhoek Luxury Suites, grab dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants, and settle in for our last night in Namibia.
