2 travelers on Start dateNairobi to Samburu National Reserve
Upon arrival, you will be met by our office representative for a safari briefing and introduced to your safari driver guide. We will then depart for Samburu, enjoying views of the countryside and farms. We will stop at the equator line, which divides the Earth into the northern and southern hemispheres. After crossing over to the northern hemisphere, we will proceed to Samburu National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch at Ashnil Samburu Camp.
At 4:00pm, we will embark on an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Samburu is renowned for being the best reserve in northern Kenya. It is home to different sub-species of animals only found in this region, such as reticulated giraffes, Grevy's zebras, oryx, Somali ostriches, and gerenuk. We may spot cats like lions, cheetahs, and leopards on a lucky day.
We will then have dinner and stay overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp.

Exploring Samburu National Reserve
Today's activities include an early morning safari at 6:30am and an afternoon safari at 4:00pm for exploring the reserve. Most large safari animals are easily seen, with elephants being common and relaxed. Although rhinos are absent, lions, cheetahs, and leopards are occasionally spotted. The Samburu National Reserve is named after the Samburu people of Kenya, who have lived in the area for many years. The Uaso Nyiro River, which flows through the reserve, attracts a large population of Kenyan animals. The reserve's landscape is primarily an open savannah with clusters of acacia trees, forests, thorn trees, and grassland vegetation. Notably, Samburu National Reserve was one of the two areas where conservationists George and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the lioness, a story made famous by the bestselling book and award-winning movie "Born Free." The day culminates with dinner and an overnight stay at Ashnil Samburu Camp.
