Day 1-2

Our journey begins in the Arid Northern Cape of South Africa, in a town known as Springbok. Beginning in the morning, we travel out into the wilderness known as the Richtersveld. A fascinating landscape, one could imagine having traveled to Mars after these first two days!

We enjoy the rough roads by 4x4, traversing this fascinating landscape to arrive at our Wilderness camp set right on the Orange/Gariep River. Spending two nights here, you have full freedom to either enjoy the surrounds on foot, head out into the wilderness by vehicle, or simply relax by the river.

Day 3-4

Heading across the border using the local pont, we travel into Namibia and continue our journey through this otherworldly landscape. We journey along the Orange/Gariep River, generally the only river flowing through this arid landscape which hardly receives any rain. Rarely coming across other people or vehicles, we travel slowly through the Ai Ais section to arrive at our resort for the next two nights.

Staying alongside the Fish River Canyon, second only to the Grand Canyon, we spend our time enjoying the Ai Ais Hot Spring Resort, with a full day to enjoy optional activities for your choice.

Day 5-6

Kgalagadi Wilderness

Kgalagadi Wilderness

From the Fish River Canyon, we traverse the landscape of Namibia to arrive at the Mata Mata Border Post, entering the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. It is here that we spend the next week or so exploring this huge pristine wilderness. First stop is the fantastic Kalahari Tented Camp, with no fences, and overlooking the river, we spend our evenings here in the primeval bush.

Going on morning and evening game drives, we search for the predators, antelope, smaller mammals, and birdlife that inhabits the Kalahari.

Day 7

Nossob Area

Shifting across the Kgalagadi, we travel along the Auob River and across the red sand dunes, arriving and traveling along the Nossob River. All the time, searching for the wildlife living in this harsh land.

We spend the night at Nossob, an area famed for its high density of lion prides and other predators. This is where we prepare for our wilderness trail over the coming days.

Day 8-10

Nossob 4x4 EcoTrail

Leaving in the morning from Nossob Rest Camp, we embark on a fascinating journey through the wilderness and dunes just offset from the Nossob River. We spend the next three nights enjoying a private tour of the Kgalagadi, assisted by a local guide, we journey along a 4x4 route with no other people searching for wildlife and learning of the Kgalagadi in more depth. Each day takes us only 50 or so km, so there will be plenty of time to enjoy the surrounds and set up camp each day.

Each night we spend camping out in the wilderness, with no fences and very little facilities, to truly appreciate and experience the bush! This being a semi-participation tour, you may want to help with camp chores in the evenings and morning like setting/breaking camp, washing dishes, tending to the fire etc. but nothing hard!

Day 11

Twee Rivieren

On our final day of the 4x4 Trail, we finish at Twee Rivieren Rest Camp after a days journey through the dunes.

After spending three nights wild camping, it is welcome to enjoy the luxuries again of comfortable chalets and all the facilities that camp provides. We spend our final night here, either relaxing at camp or enjoying an afternoon game drive, depending on how the 4x4 Trail goes.

On our final morning, we head out for our final game drive to search for anything we haven't seen yet!

Returning to camp for a hearty breakfast, we pack and head off on the final journey out of the Kgalagadi, through the vast expanse of farms and wilderness until we reach Upington, where you connect with your flight or enjoy own itinerary.
