Day 1

Namibia

Namibia

Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako (Windhoek International) Airport, you will be met by your guide and then travel to the capital of Namibia for check in at the Villa Violet Guesthouse. After check in, you will be taken on a city tour. Windhoek is a city of many contrasts including modern skyscrapers and historic buildings dating from the turn of the century. Several buildings from the German colonial era have been preserved and restored to fulfill useful functions in the community today. Some of the sights you will see on your tour are the Ride Memorial, the Old Fort, the Parliament Building (also known as the "Ink Place"), the Lutheran Church, the Railway Station and many more. Later in the evening, you will return to the guesthouse for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 2

Windhoek - Mariental

Windhoek - Mariental

After breakfast, you will check out and depart from Windhoek; driving through Rehoboth, the centre of Namibia's Baster community into the red dunes of the Kalahari Desert. You will check in at the Bagatelle Kalahari Game Lodge, have lunch and then take off on a guided game drive to learn about the flora and fauna of the Kalahari Desert. Your dinner and overnight stay will await your return to the lodge later in the evening.

Day 3-4

Bagatelle - Sossusvlei

Bagatelle - Sossusvlei

After breakfast, you will check out and travel south into the low plains of the Namib Desert to Desert Homestead and Horse Trail where you will visit Sossusvlei. It is described as a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world; and is filled with water only in years when exceptionally good rainfall is received. You will visit the Sesriem Canyon; said to have gotten its name during the time of the ox wagon, when a person had to use six harness straps to haul water from the bottom of the canyon. Later in the evening, you will head to Desert Quiver Camp or similar for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 5-6

Swakopmund

After breakfast, you will check out and travel north through the Kuiseb Canyon to Swakopmund. Highlights along the journey include a drive to the "Moon Landscape" and the ancient desert plant, "Welwitschia mirabilis". This quaint desert town, with its old-world charm and relaxed atmosphere hedged by desert and sea, is enhanced by lush green lawns and palm trees. Upon arrival at the Swakopmund Guesthouse, you will check in, have lunch and then take off for a morning dolphin cruise on the Walvis Bay Lagoon. The afternoon is spend at leisure. Later in the evening, you will have dinner and turn in for the night.

Day 7-8

Swakopmund to Damaraland

Swakopmund to Damaraland

After breakfast, you will depart from Swakopmund and travel north along the Atlantic Coast. Visit the lichen fields near Wlotzka's Baken before continuing to Henties Bay, a small holiday resort then onwards to the seal colony at Cape Cross. After visiting the seals, the journey continues on through Ugabmund to the southern Skeleton Coast Park to inspect a shipwreck. You will leave early in the afternoon traveling through Sringbokwasser, where you will experience the harsh transition from the Namib Desert to the Damaraland highlands with its impressive landscape and ragged valleys. Upon arrival at Malansrus Tented Camp you will check in and then take part in a rhino trekking excursion. After an adventurous day, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 9-10

Damaraland – Southern Etosha National Park

Leaving Malansrus we travel to Kamanjab and further to the Etosha National Park. The Etosha National Park presents to its guests a wilderness experience that is unmatched in terms of privacy and landscape viewing. If time permits, your guide will drive into the National Park with you already this afternoon for a game drive.

Day 10: Southern Etosha National Park
Discover the mysteries of the African bush in Etosha National Park whilst travelling in an eastern direction through the park. We spend the day doing game drives in the park and visit the numerous waterholes that attract a large diversity of animal and bird species, many of these being endemic to the country.

After breakfast, you will head back through Okahandja to Windhoek. Okahandja is an important center for woodcarvers from the north. They practice their ancient skills at the Woodcarvers Market next to the main road. This is a good place to pick up a last souvenir. Upon arrival in Windhoek, you will be dropped off at Hosea Kutako Airport for your outbound flight. This is where your safari will end.
