Day 1

Nairobi / Meru National Park

Nairobi / Meru National Park

You will be picked up from the airport or your accommodation in Nairobi. Your journey will begin as you depart Nairobi, passing through agricultural farmlands on your way to Nanyuki. Along the way, you will stop at the equator for a photo opportunity and a demonstration of how water spins differently on either side of the equator.

You will continue your safari, driving north through the expansive wheat fields of Timau and entering Meru National Park. Meru is renowned for its diverse wildlife, including the famed Big Five—elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard—and many birds. Additionally, Meru National Park is famous as the setting for the film Born Free, based on Joy Adamson's book about Elsa, a lioness. Here, Joy and George Adamson released Elsa back into the wild.

You will arrive at Ikweta Safari Camp in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. After a fun day of exploring, you will return to camp for dinner and spend the night there.

Day 2

Meru National Park

Meru National Park

Breakfast will be served before a full day of exploring Meru National Park. You will have the opportunity to see large herds of buffalo, bushbuck, eland, duiker, elephants, gazelles, giraffes, genet, hartebeest, kudu, impala, waterbuck, baboons, jackals, hyenas, lions, oryx, mongooses, oribis, vervet monkeys and warthogs. Additionally, you might spot wild dogs, caracals, bush babies, cheetahs, dik-diks, civets, bush pigs, otters, and porcupines.

Do not forget to look for various bird species, including Peter's finfoot, which inhabits the Murera and Ura Rivers, the Pel's fishing owl, rollers, bee-eaters, kingfishers, starlings and numerous weavers.

After your adventurous day, you will return to Ikweta Safari Camp for dinner, followed by an overnight stay.

Day 3

After breakfast, you will depart from Meru and continue your safari via Isiolo, embarking on an unforgettable journey into the Samburu National Reserve. This area is a haven of beauty and tranquility, featuring a semi-arid landscape with rugged terrain and majestic surroundings. The Samburu region is renowned for its unique northern species of wildlife, which are rarely found south of the equator. Here, you will encounter the Grevy's zebra, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, long-necked gerenuk and the dainty dik-dik. Additionally, you will observe some of the most beautiful birdlife in Kenya, along with herds of elephants, plains game and their predators.

You will arrive in time for lunch at Samburu Sopa Lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive. After the drive, you will return to Samburu Sopa Lodge for dinner and enjoy an overnight stay.

Day 4

Samburu National Reserve

You will spend the day exploring the Samburu National Reserve and the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, where you may have the opportunity to spot crocodiles. Additionally, you might encounter elephants, leopards, cheetahs and various other wildlife. Samburu National Reserve is also a paradise for bird lovers, boasting over 350 species of birds, including vultures, kingfishers, marabous, bateleurs and guinea fowl among others. You will also have the option to visit a Samburu cultural village for an extra cost. All meals will be provided, and you will overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge.
