Durban to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi

After arrival at King Shaka Airport in Durban, you will be met and taken on a 3-hour drive up north to the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve. Here, you will stay for 2 nights at Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge in a standard room. You will stay in a bush villa if you are 2 adults and a child (at an increased rate). Enjoy your first game drive in the afternoon (time dependant).

Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve

The Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park is the jewel in the crown of the KwaZulu-Natal game reserves. Proclaimed in 1895, it is also the oldest game reserve in Africa. Initially 2 separate reserves, they were joined to create a single 94,000-hectare reserve which is home to one-fifth of the world's black and white rhino population. It was here that the internationally acclaimed Operation Rhino started in the 1960s, successfully capturing and relocating white rhino to havens within South Africa and abroad. The Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park was the first reserve to introduce walking safaris, and its wilderness trails are internationally renowned. Visitors can also look forward to spotting the Big Five, wild dogs, cheetahs, giraffes, numerous antelope species, as well as a wide variety of bird species.

Hluluwe to St Lucia

After your last morning game drive and breakfast in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi, you will be picked up and taken to St Lucia, which is about a 1.5 hours drive away. St Lucia is encircled by the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park, South Africa’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. St Lucia lies on the magnificent St Lucia Estuary which is one of the largest in Africa, stretching over 85 kilometres and features abundant wildlife, pristine natural beauty, and a wide range of wonderful activities. Check in at Sandpiper Guesthouse and go on a 2-hour hippo & crocodile boat cruise up the St Lucia Estuary within iSimangaliso Wetlands Park.
