Today after your breakfast, you will be picked up at your place of stay in Entebbe to explore the capital city of Uganda, its rich cultural attractions, historic attractions and so much more. From the busy town of Kampala, you will wind up your safari trip in a relaxing tour of the Botanical Gardens and finally check into the UWEC Bandas for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will be picked by the guide to transfer to Mabamba Swamp for a relaxing canoeing experience while in search of the elusive shoe-billed stork. When you finally get the privilege of spotting this beautiful bird, you will sit back on the shore and have lunch. Today, our expedition heads further east to Kapchorwa, a land settled on the slopes of Mount Elgon. After checking into your booked lodge and recharging with lunch, you will embark on a scenic hike through the abundant vegetation toward Sipi Falls, the jewel of the east. Kapchorwa, which translates to “a friend’s place”, is a lush landscape full of breathtaking vistas that shimmer in the setting sun as you make your return journey.

Our determined hiking is rewarded with a vantage point that lets you see the far reaches of Kidepo Valley National Park on one side and on the other side peer over the border into South Sudan. You will descend and hop into your vehicle for an evening game drive before returning to your lodge.

Day 8

Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park

Before the dawn breaks, you will venture into the populous north side of the park where the diverse wildlife keeps you alert in hopes of spotting as many species as possible; from elephants, giraffes, and lions, to the elusive, nocturnal leopards. After lunch, you will set out for a launch trip to the base of Murchison Falls. Buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos lounge along the banks in the company of aquatic birds like the dwarf kingfisher, the goliath heron, and the hornbill. You will dock at the foot of the falls and hike to the top to witness the breathtaking scene created where the Nile surges through a narrow opening and pours out into the devil’s cauldron, crowned by a permanent rainbow.

The winding road reveals divine landscapes, including a stop for lunch in Fort Portal; a town cradled in the foothills of Mount Rwenzori. From the famed land of the “mountains of the moon”, you will venture on to your booked accommodation for overnight camping that will usher you into the adventures of the next day.

From the hot spring viewing, you will have lunch and later set out for a hike for a scenic view of crater lakes. You will wind up the evening in Kibale Forest National Park for an overnight stay.

A brief drive takes you to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you check in and enjoy a relaxing morning before taking on the best the park has to offer. After lunch, you will head to Mweya where you will launch an afternoon boat cruise along Kazinga Channel. This cruise offers the best view of aquatic birds, hippos, buffaloes, and other wildlife on the waterside. In the evening, you will enjoy splendid vistas of the crater lakes en route to a game drive in Kasenyi before returning to the lodge for the night.
