Spend a full day exploring the reserve in search of the Big Five. A safari between July and October offers the possibility of seeing the spectacular annual wildebeest migration when millions of wildebeest and zebra migrate from the Serengeti (Tanzania) to Masai Mara in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna—lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, jackals, hyenas and vultures. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here! You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, buffalos, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, leopards, many kinds of antelopes and elephants. An optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost of US$450 per person. Dinner and overnight stay are at Miti Mingi Eco Camp.

The Serengeti is sure to attract a string of prey, such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, golden jackals and bat-eared foxes. Elephants are relatively scarce, and the few remaining black rhinoceros are restricted to the Moru Koppies area. Serengeti also offers rewarding bird viewing, with ostrich and kori bustards being common. A variety of larks, finches, and raptors can be seen, but the most distinctive small bird is the lilac-breasted roller.
