Tarangire National Park - Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, you will check out and drive westward, descending into the Serengeti Plains. “Serengeti” derives from the Maasai word 'siringet' meaning "an extended area". These endless rolling plains give these grasslands a timeless romantic beauty. The principal features of the Serengeti are its stunning wildlife populations and the annual spectacle of the migration of millions of wildebeest and other grazers in pursuit of water. You will make a stop at the Olduvai Gorge where Mary Leakey discovered an early hominid fossil nicknamed Zinja that dates back some 1.8 million years. This discovery and later the uncovering of a set of hominid footprints dated 3.6 million years old changed the way scientists thought about human evolution. After a picnic lunch, you will continue to central Serengeti where you will check in at the Intimate Places Tented Camp, have dinner, and settle in for the night.
