A Peak Cruise Safaris guide will pick you up from Entebbe or Kampala for your first day of gorilla trekking in Uganda. You will proceed on an 8 to 9-hour road transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in southwestern Uganda. It is quite a long drive but worth it because of the countryside scenery. You will see some of the most beautiful images of nature on the way to the Virunga Massive. Keep your cameras close, because our driver will stop whenever you want to capture a beautiful moment.

You will have an en-route stopover at the equator crossing for photos and a simple experiment before continuing to Mbarara town for lunch. After lunch, you will continue on your drive to Bwindi National Park or Kabale for your overnight stay at Karungi Camp.

Gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking

After an early breakfast, we drive to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by the park rangers about what to do and not to do while in the park. You will be divided in groups of 8, after which you start trekking these gentle giants as directed by the rangers. This is a memorable and amazing experience. Watch the mountain gorillas feed, play, and perform their day-to-day activities. This activity can take 2 to 8 hours, depending on the location and movement of the gorillas. You can also expect to walk long distances in muddy and steep conditions (a walking stick is required). When you meet the gorillas, you will spend 1 hour with them as you take photos.

Later, we return to the lodge and visit the Batwa community (optional) which will expose you to their culture. Experience how they live and see them dance, and also listen to the stories concerning their culture which will leave you amazed. Have dinner and overnight at the camp.
