Today, you drive from Kampala or Entebbe to Kidepo National Park, nominated as Africa’s leading park in 2013 by the World Travel Awards. The park lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s borders with Sudan and Kenya. Gazetted as a national park in 1962, it has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species and around 475 bird species. The park’s altitude ranges between 914m and 2,750m above sea level. The park contains 2 rivers, Kidepo and Narus, which disappear in the Dry season, leaving just pools for the wildlife.

Do an afternoon safari and then check in at UWA Bandas for dinner, a campfire and an overnight stay.
