Breakfast will be served at your lodge before boarding the safari vehicle and driving overland to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru is a shallow alkaline lake famous for its flamingo and rhino populations. It's estimated to have more than a million flamingos, and bird watchers call it a bird's paradise. You'll arrive in time for lunch and a siesta. You will then depart for an afternoon game-viewing drive. You'll return to the camp before sunset.
In addition to flamingos, the lake draws more than 450 species of birds. There are no elephants in the park, but the other members of the Big Five can be spotted, including tree-climbing lions. Animals that thrive in the dry land surrounding the lake such as Rothschild's giraffes, Cape buffaloes, waterbucks, gazelles, leopards and primates can also be spotted. After breakfast, we will depart by road and return to Nairobi. We'll then proceed through Kamba and Maasai land dotted with circular houses and a few shopping centers en route to Amboseli National Park. The park is situated at the foot of the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the highest free-standing mountain in the world. You will arrive at the camp in time for lunch and enjoy a few leisure hours. You'll then depart for an afternoon game drive.
The park has large herds of wildebeest, zebra, elephant, giraffe, lion, and a variety of other animals and birds. These animals are attracted to this park due to its permanent water supply from Mount Kilimanjaro’s melting snow. The elephant population in Amboseli is one of the few that have been able to live undisturbed. Amboseli's elephant families have been studied by world-renowned researcher Cynthia Moss.
