Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

You will be picked up from the airport or hotel. Thereafter, drive via Narok town to the Masai Mara National Reserve, the land of the Maasai tribe. The proud young Maasai warrior-nomads, with their plaited hair, red cloaks, and spears, will challenge your curiosity.

The 700-square-mile game reserve is the Africa of your dreams, complete with wild animals grazing amid the superb rolling landscape of gentle hills and acacia woodlands. Check into your camp and have lunch at the campsite at 12.30 pm.

There will be time to settle in before your first game drive at 4 pm in the reserve. Return to the lodge before dark. At 7.30 pm, have dinner before your overnight stay at Mara Enkajiang Camp or similar.

Masai Mara Discovery Tour

Spend the full day exploring the park in search of the Big 5, following the wildebeest migration herds and predators. An optional balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost. Your overnight stay is at the Mara Enkajiang Camp.

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, leopards, elephants and many kinds of antelopes.

It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savannah - lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures.
