Day 1

Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

You will be picked up at your residence in Nairobi or at a designated pick-up point and drive to Masai Mara with a stopover at the Great Rift Valley. You will continue driving on through Longonot and Suswa and onto the Western walls with another stopover at Narok for re-fuelling. You will arrive at Mara in time for lunch. Later on, you will proceed for an evening game drive in the Mara popular for the Big Five (lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos). You will return to camp late in the evening just in time for dinner and an overnight stay at the camp.

Day 2

Game Drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

This is a full day spent at the Masai Mara National Reserve. You will be driving across the plains in search of the big cats (black manned lions, cheetahs, and leopards) with a picnic lunch served at the Mara River site. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebras wander across the Mara grasslands in huge numbers during this period of the annual migrations take place, when millions of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle traverse the Mara plains landscape to feed on the rich new grass from the Serengeti. You also have a chance to see other plain game like the topi, heartbeest, and elands. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge/camp.

Day 3

Depart Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park

Leaving the Masai Mara after breakfast, you will travel across the ‘breadbasket’ of Kenya, where acres of wheat and barley litter the landscape as you head north to Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Maasailand. Now travel across the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley, keeping an eye out for herds of giraffes and gazelles as you head up the Mai Mahiu, before arriving at Lake Nakuru around midday. Once in the park/conservancy, you will view the game en route to the lodge. Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets.
The national park, known for its birdlife, offers a possibility to view flamingos. It is also home to black and white rhinos as well as the endangered Rothschild giraffe. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge/camp.
