Arrival Dar es Salaam - Air Charter Transfer to Siwandu, Nyerere National Park

Upon arrival at Dar es Salaam you will be met by one of our representatives who will assist you to your onward charter flight (45 minutes) to Siwandu in the Nyerere National Park.

Siwandu Camp is a 10 minute game drive from the airstrip and is located in a grove of palms on the shore of Lake Nzerakera. This lakeshore location offers consistency of game viewing as the animals gravitate around the lake and is the only place in East Africa where you can experience water-based game activities.

After your orientation briefing you will have time to settle into your tented suite overlooking the lake. In the afternoon embarking on your first game activity followed by camp fire drinks, a delicious, freshly prepared, three course dinner under the stars and a peaceful sleep with the noises of the bush just beyond the canvas.

(Accommodation at Siwandu includes all meals, including 1 Pontoon lunch, drinks & activities: game drives, 1 boat safari and 1 guided walk).

Explore Nyerere National Park

At Siwandu game drives tend to take place after breakfast as by then, the animals have gravitated towards the lake to drink ensuring a far denser concentration of game around the camp.

Siwandu Camp offers a lovely wide range of game activities for guests to experience. Discover the landscape in 4WD open sided game vehicles, led by an expert driver guide. Alternatively take a leisurely boat cruise on our lake and the Rufiji River tributaries; venture close and watch animals from a different perspective.... or perhaps feel the thrill of a dawn game walk and have the opportunity to track animals and engage with the smaller habitats and ecosystems.

Air charter transfer Siwandu to Fanjove Private Island (via Dar es Salaam)

This morning bid farewell to the bush and transfer first to Dar es Salaam. A short 45 minute light aircraft flight from Dar es Salaam will take you via Mafia Island to Songo Songo Island, where you will be greeted by a Tuk Tuk to take you on a short 5 minute transfer to the jetty. From there you will sail for about 40 minutes, passing by other small islands until you reach across to Fanjove Island.

Upon arrival kick off your shoes (you won't be needing them again) and enjoy a refreshing coconut water and selection of fresh fruits. You will be welcomed by a member of the team and shown to your traditional eco-banda.

Each evening the Activities Manager will discuss your options for the following day.

Fanjove Private Island

It is completely up to you how you wish to spend your day. You may want to spend all day in the water and explore the island, or snooze on a sun lounger with a book. At your leisure wander down the beach for breakfast. Explore the island trail or at low tide walk around the outside perimeter of the island, exploring rock pools and coves filled with colorful crabs.

You can snorkel straight off the main beach or head out to explore the 11 kilometer coral reef stretching around the island. The Activity Manager is padi trained and can facilitate beginner or refresher dives for any ability (at your own cost).

Sail out on a marine safari in search of spinner and bottlenose dolphins, or even humpback whales (seasonal).

Transfer from Fanjove Private Island to Dar es Salaam

After breakfast it is time to bid farewell to this island paradise. You will take a boat, road and light aircraft charter transfer back to Dar es Salaam for your onward journey.
