Welcome to Kenya! On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Wilson Airport in time for your hour-long flight to Samburu’s Kalama Airstrip. On arrival, you will be met by your guide and transferred to Saruni Samburu. You will settle in, relax and then depart for your afternoon game drive in some 80,000 hectares of pristine wilderness. In the evening, you will enjoy sundowners with breathtaking views before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Day 2

You will wake up early for a morning game drive in Samburu National Reserve, where you will seek out the Samburu special five: reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, the beisa oryx, Somali ostriches and gerenuks. All these are rare species that occur only in this part of the country. Don't forget to be on the lookout for the well-known larger wildlife, including elephants, lions, and leopards. You will enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back to the lodge to enjoy a complimentary half-hour back-and-neck massage at the Samburu Wellbeing Space. You'll sit back with a cold drink in hand before you savour your dinner.

Day 3

Safari in Samburu National Reserve

Today brings another day to explore the wonders of Samburu with a morning game drive. After lunch, you will head out on a walking safari, discovering animals, plants, and the local caves with rock paintings, led by your skilful and knowledgeable Samburu guides. You will enjoy an evening game drive in the Kalama Conservancy, ending with a bush dinner under the stars in the middle of the wilderness, and a night drive back to the lodge. The Samburu warriors dancing, candles, and fire under the vast African skies make this a truly magical experience.

Day 4

Masai Mara National Reserve

You will enjoy breakfast and depart Samburu on a morning flight, arriving in the Masai Mara an hour and a half later. You may choose to immediately go out on a game drive, with a picnic lunch to enjoy under an acacia tree or by the river next to a pod of hippos. Alternatively, if you'd like to freshen up first, you'll head to Saruni Mara for some rest and enjoy an exclusive game drive later in the afternoon in Mara North Conservancy. It is made up of over 12,000 hectares of plentiful, protected land bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve. Here, you will enjoy a completely different and less explored corner of the Mara ecosystem, brimming with wildlife in complete privacy!

Day 5

You will wake up to enjoy an early morning game drive to look for the big cats and other predators of the Mara. Then, you will return to the camp for lunch and perhaps treat yourself at the Maasai Wellbeing Space. In the afternoon, you will go on a game drive that will take you to a special area where the largest tower of giraffes can be seen. This will be followed by dinner at camp, and an optional, exciting night drive.

Day 6

After waking up, you're going to take a walk through the valleys and plains surrounding Saruni Mara, accompanied by a vehicle or a game drive up to the top of Kilileoni, the highest mountain in the Serengeti-Masai Mara ecosystem. You will return to the camp for lunch and a siesta before heading off to discover more of Mara North and its neighbouring conservancies. If the weather permits, you will experience a bush dinner out in nature, under the African sky while watching the Maasai warriors singing and dancing around the crackling fire.

Day 7

Departure

Departure

You will enjoy breakfast before departing Samburu Mara. On the way to the airstrip, you will visit the rhino sanctuary and once again you will get to admire the hippo and crocs of the Mara River. From the airstrip, you will take your flight back to Wilson Airport, where you will be met and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.
