Your safari starts at 6:30 a.m. from the hotel in Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park. You will start the afternoon boat trip on arrival. The afternoon boat trip leaves camp at 4:00 p.m. and returns at 6:30 p.m. It’s an ideal trip if you would like to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Rufiji River with many hippos, crocodiles, and beautiful birdlife. The sunset can also be stunning from the boat. There is nothing quite like the serenity of the river while the sun dips below the horizon.
The Rufiji is a large wide river with several lakes branching off it for you to explore, gaining a unique view of the river’s largest inhabitants (crocodiles and hippos).
Boat safaris are also the best excursions for bird enthusiasts. The park has over 350 bird species, and the river is the place where they congregate in great numbers and are easily seen in the open environment.
You might want to try your luck with the ferocious tigerfish, and weighty catfish that live in the waters in abundance.

Nyerere National Park to Dar es Salaam
You will have an early morning breakfast at the camp and start a sunrise bush walking safari. Walking safaris are a fantastic way to get close to nature and learn more about the smaller species and the bush itself. It’s an unforgettable experience to walk within such a vast and untamed area of natural reserve. The walks take about 2-3 hours long. Usually walks leave camp at 6:00 am-6:30 am, after having a cup of tea and some homemade biscuits or doughnuts. You will then drive back to Dar es Salaam.
