Often regarded as one of the best-kept secrets of the northern circuit, the park spans an area of 2,850 sq km and features unique and diverse landscapes. Its year-round water presence makes it an excellent place to visit, particularly during the dry season (June - Oct, Dec - Feb) when it attracts a migration of diverse wildlife. The park boasts big baobab trees, large mammals (especially elephants), and carnivores. Enjoy lunch within the park and then embark on an afternoon game drive. It was voted one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Approximately 30,000 animals live here. Ngorongoro is one of the few places in Africa where guests have a great chance of seeing the entire “Big Five” during a single game drive. You’ll eat lunch inside the crater. You’ll transfer to Serengeti National Park through the Ngorongoro area. Who hasn't heard of the Serengeti? It offers the ultimate safari experience. Known as the "land of endless plains," it covers an area of 14,760 sq km, divided roughly into short grass and woodland areas. It's the homeland of the nomadic Maasai and is renowned for its wildlife density and the annual wildebeest migration. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this place! Serengeti national park

Serengeti national park

Today is half day game drive at Serengeti National Park. You depart after lunch. The drive can take up to four hours, and it is the perfect way to see different sides of Tanzania's ever-changing landscapes. As you pass the nor and drive toward Lake Natron, you will notice the lush green vegetation slowly changing to dry, arid, and dusty landscapes. The further north you go, the more remains of old volcanoes rise around you. Among them is Ol Doinyo Lengai, meaning mountain of God in the Masai dialect. This volcano is one of the few that are still active. When you eventually reach Lake Natron, you may catch its smoke disappearing in the sky! You will spend the night in a comfortable bed at the lodge.

Lake Natron

Waking up at the foot of Ol Doinyo Lengai is a magical feeling! The Engare Sero footprint site, on the south of Lake Natron, 2km away from the lodge, has been reported to host one of the best-preserved sets of fossilized hominid footprints in the world. However, until now, there has been no detailed characterization and age determination of the footprint-bearing strata (the Footprint Tuff). Over 400 footprints are between 5000 and 19 000 years old and came to scientists’ attention in 2008 and cover a cordoned-off area slightly larger than a tennis court.

To complete your day of exploring Lake Natron, venture out on a moderate two-hour hike along the western edge of Lake Natron. This leads to a series of narrow gorges and waterfalls, where you can swim in slot canyons and walk behind the falling water. A pretty refreshing activity after a hot day at Lake Natron, as the area is both arid and wet at the same time and lush with wild palms growing above the gorge.
