Day 1
Panorama Route, Rondawels Viewpoint across Abel Erasmus Pass Arrive at Animal Rehabilitation Centre
Panorama Route, Rondawels Viewpoint across Abel Erasmus Pass Arrive at Animal Rehabilitation Centre
This morning, you will be collected by our guide and descend over the dramatic Abel Erasmus Mountain Pass to the Olifants River and from here to the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.
At Moholoholo, the program will include a tour of the rehabilitation centre, which starts at 3 pm, a morning bush walk with a ranger in the local reserve, and a night drive. The centre is a home to many of South Africa’s abandoned, injured, and poisoned wildlife, an excellent addition to your Kruger Safari putting it in context. After dinner, you will enjoy a night drive in the small private reserve around the lodge. Not usually seen on most safaris are the night creatures such as the serval, African wildcat, African genet, porcupine, White-tailed mongoose, aardwolf, aardvark, nightjar, hyena, and various owls. It is impossible to predict what will happen every night as it has its surprises.

Morning Bush Walk with the Center Wildlife Guide and Blyde Canyon Boat Trip
This morning, you'll enjoy an early morning leisurely bushwalk on the Moholoholo Reserve. You will encounter zebras, giraffes, warthogs, and many other animals. The guide will inform you about the smaller animals, birds, insects, and plants of the Kruger region that are best seen on foot.
After breakfast, you'll travel into the Blyde River Canyon to enjoy a 90-minute boat trip on the Blyde Dam. You'll see the Kadishi Tufa Waterfall and the Three Rondawels from the boat. Wildlife is abundant, you'll be able to see hippos, crocodiles, and African fish eagles. During the cruise, you will learn more about the history of the third-largest canyon in the world.
Your guide will drop you at your Kruger lodge (or back in Johannesburg if doing this as an add on tour at the end of your safari or to our other Panorama Route Tour). Also, drop-off can be arranged at Nelspruit or Johannesburg Airports.
