Gorilla Tracking

Today you will start early! From the lodge, you'll drive to the park about 30 minutes to the Office Rwandais du Tourisme et Des Parc Nationaux. The head ranger will divide you into groups based on interest and fitness. From here, your guide will take you as close as possible to the starting point of your tracking. Today you will track one of the habituated gorilla groups who can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day. The time taken to track the gorillas can take as little as half an hour to as much as 8 hrs!
Your track will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorillas’ current location. Your guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots. Once the gorillas have been located, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a humbling and emotional experience.

Then into a family compound to pound cassava leaves; by two mosques and a lookout view over Kigali; and into a tailor shop to feel the fabrics you'll otherwise see styled on the streets. Manyara - Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, take your packed lunch with you and we will set off towards Central Serengeti. Afterwards, we'll visit the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world—Serengeti National Park. The word ‘Serengeti’ means ‘endless plains’, which describes the park’s 5,600 square mile boundary. Yet for its sprawling area, the Serengeti does not disappoint when it comes to rich game-viewing. Annually, from May to December, millions of animals embark on a migration which brings them from Central Serengeti to Kenya’s Masai Mara and back again in an incredible spectacle. Even during the ‘down-time’, vast herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle roam here, along with groups of elephant, giraffe, and buffalo. As the lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and jackals stalk their meals, we'll enjoy a picnic lunch in this open arena. Dinner and your overnight stay are at Ole Serai Luxury Camp.

Best Time To Visit January to February and June to October (Different areas are best at different times)

This park is the oldest and most famous in Tanzania and has a diversity of habitats and landscapes—short grass plains, savannah, thick bush, swamps and lakes. Bizarre rock formations called kopjes dot the grassy landscape where predators are often seen. The Serengeti is famous for the yearly migration when hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras trek to find fresh grass and water. Game viewing is good all year round with great sightings of lions, cheetahs, leopards, hippos, and giraffes. In the evening, drive to your camp at Ole Serai Luxury Camp.

Arriving at the edge of the crater, you will have your first glimpse of what awaits you the following day—glistening streams, open grassland and an infinite amount of animals.
