Day 1

Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

You will be picked up from your hotel by our African Paradise safari guide. Head southwards to Masai Mara National Reserve with a stopover at the Great Rift Valley for about 20 minutes. Proceed with your safari to the Mara with another stopover at Narok town. Arrive in time for lunch and some relaxation. Then have an afternoon game drive in the reserve.
Go on an exploratory drive around the 1,792sq km game park with its low hills and savannah-type rolling grasslands, gallery forest on the Mara River, and its tributaries. Get introduced to the herbivores; elephant, rhino, buffalo, a variety of antelope, the Masai giraffe, and the Burchell's zebra. The carnivores are the black-maned lion, cheetah, and leopard. Also to be seen are the largest bird, the Masai ostrich, the secretary bird, the crested crane, and saddle-bill stork. Crocodiles and hippos share the river. Return to your lodge by sunset for dinner and your overnight stay at Miti Mingi Eco Camp (on full board basis).

Game Drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

Go on an early morning balloon safari ride at US $450.00 per person across the Masai Mara plains (optional). Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, followed by morning and afternoon game drives. Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south—game abounds here. The Mara is noted for its abundance of lions, particularly the superb black-maned males. See the great migration where over 1.5 million wildebeest and other antelope cross the mighty Mara River. Experience the battle between survival and hunger. You are also likely to see lots of elephants, often in large herds, as well as leopard, cheetah, and rhino. All of the Big Five are residents here and you're sure to see the African buffalo. Get the cameras ready, stock up on film/tapes, and enjoy yourselves! In the evening, visit a Maasai village. Return for dinner and your overnight stay at Miti Mingi Eco Camp (on full board basis).

After a hot breakfast is served to you in the camp, depart to Lake Nakuru National Park at around 9:00 am. Drive through another sector of the Great Rift Valley viewpoint. You will pass through Lake Naivasha for your lunch and an optional boat ride (US $25 per person). Afterwards, proceed with your journey to Lake Nakuru.
Lake Nakuru is a small park with over 50% of its area covered by the lake. Located in the middle of the Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru has a wide variety of animals which includes Rothschild's giraffe, lion, white and black rhino, as well as leopard. All these can be spotted depending on your luck. The park is also considered by birdwatchers as an ornithological paradise! A myriad of both greater and lesser flamingoes has made this lake their home. Enjoy dinner and your overnight stay at Citymax Hotel (on full board basis).

You will head to Lake Nakuru National Park for a game drive until 11:00 am. Depart to Masai Mara and have an en-route lunch in Mai Mahiu town. Proceed to Amboseli National Park, where you will arrive in the late afternoon. During your game drive, you will be searching for the big herds of African elephants, cheetahs, lions, gazelles, and the elusive eland. If the weather permits, you will be able to have a magnificent view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Enjoy dinner and your overnight stay at Kimana Camp (on full board basis).

After your morning breakfast at the lodge, depart to Tarangire National Park. On arrival in the park, you will have an en-route game drive heading to the lodge. You can check-in and have your lunch at leisure. Go on another game drive in the afternoon. The park's dominant feature is the Tarangire River. Although it gets very dry, the park is relatively thick with vegetation like acacia shrubs and mixed woodlands. The most memorable of these are the huge baobab trees dotted around in big numbers. Herds of up to 300 elephants can be found here looking for underground streams in the dry riverbeds. Migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest, and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. Dry-country antelope such as fringe-eared oryx and the long-necked gerenuk are also regularly spotted. There are also abandoned termite mounds often housing mongoose colonies. Enjoy dinner and your overnight stay at Panorama Campsite.

After breakfast, head to Serengeti with a picnic lunch and an en-route game drive. You will arrive in Serengeti National Park in the evening. Later, enjoy an evening game drive in the park and return to the lodge for leisure and dinner.
Tanzania's Serengeti offers superb game-viewing. Even out of migration time, vast herds of buffalo, eland, topi, waterbuck, impala, kongoni, and Grant’s gazelle can be seen grazing in the thousands. The Serengeti is famous not only for its migrating wildebeest and herbivores but also for its high concentration of big cats and other predators that these grazers attract. The Serengeti is also home to smaller cats, such as the caracal and serval, as well as jackal, fox, mongoose, and genet. Visit the Maasai villages in the afternoon (US $25 per person). Enjoy dinner and your overnight stay at Seronera Campsite.

Have a full day of exploration of the Serengeti with morning and afternoon game drives. It is dominated by cliffs standing some 600 meters high and presenting a sheer drop down to a wide-open space of some 246sq km. You may see everything from elephant to lion, and if you’re lucky, the near-extinct black rhino, all amongst large herds of zebra and wildebeest.
