Day 1

Transfer from Entebbe/Kampala to Bwindi via the Equator Crossing

Transfer from Entebbe/Kampala to Bwindi via the Equator Crossing

A Bamboo Ecotours representative will pick you up in Entebbe or downtown Kampala and drive to Bwindi National Park. The drive to Bwindi National Park will go to western Uganda's major towns, including Masaka, Mbarara, Ntungamo, and Kabale. There are two scheduled stopovers: 1) The Equator crossing for coffee and handicraft shopping. 2) Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara for lunch. The drive will take about 7-8 hours. Upon arrival, you'll check in at the lodge and rest for dinner and overnight.
Note: If not interested in driving for up to 8 hours to get to Bwindi, there is an option to take a one-way domestic flight from Entebbe airport to Bwindi National Park at an extra fee. Aerolink Uganda organizes the flight.

Day 2

Gorilla Trekking at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The presentation will cover the basics of what to expect during the tour. The national park guide will assign all visitors to the gorilla family to trek during the briefing session. Visitors from various countries are likely to be assigned to different trekking groups. The gorilla trek can take from a few to many hours. During trekking, the time spent depends on how far the gorillas are inside the forest. After the trek, you'll transfer to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. ​Note: Depending on the availability of gorilla trekking permits, we might suggest trekking the gorillas at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

We will drive you from Bwindi National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park for the Kazinga channel boat tour—the Kazinga Channel boat cruise for an afternoon of wildlife viewing. You will spot crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and bird species on the channel waters. After the Kazinga Channel boat cruise, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4

Kasenyi Plains Game Drive and Drive to Kibale National Park

Kasenyi Plains Game Drive and Drive to Kibale National Park

You will start the day with an early morning breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, you'll proceed to the famed Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park to spot various species of wild animals. Kasenyi plains dwell in the vast savannahs of the Albertine Rift in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It will be a morning full of adventure! Expect to encounter lions, herds of buffalos, elephants, Uganda kobs, topi, and bushbucks. While spotting the Big Five in the park is not guaranteed. On a lucky day, you may site leopards to make it to the Big Four. After the game drive, you'll drive to Kibale National Park via the Fort Portal Crater Lakes. Your dinner and an overnight stay will be at Kibale National Park.

Day 5

Chimp Trekking at Kibale National Park and Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe

You will head to the Kibale forest immediately after breakfast to experience the habituation of the chimpanzees. If you are lucky on the trek, you might encounter other different species of monkeys in the Kibale forest. These include colobus monkeys, olive baboons, and red-tailed monkeys. After the chimpanzee trekking experience, you will transfer to Kampala city or Entebbe town for dinner and an overnight stay or continue to your next destination.
