Dar es Salaam and Selous Game Reserve

You will be picked up by a guide from Selous Explorer at your hotel for a safari briefing and then drive south to Selous Game Reserve. Selous is approximately 4 hours drive from Dar es Salaam. On arrival you will check in at selous river view lodge.
After lunch you will do afternoon boat safari on the mighty Rufiji River till sunset Dinner and overnight at Selous river view lodge on full board.

Selous Game Reserve

After breakfast, you will go for full day game drives with packed lunch boxes in Selous Game Reserve enjoy your picnic lunch one of picnic site which your guide will select. After lunch and some relaxation, you will continue with afternoon game drive. After game drive you will return to selous river view lodge for overnight on full board.

Selous Game Reserve covers 5% of Tanzania’s total land area and is approximately 55,000sq km. Selous is Africa’s largest wildlife reserve and Tanzania’s most extensive protected area. Selous provides shelter for large numbers of elephants, big populations of buffaloes, wild dogs, lions, crocodiles and hippos in the mighty Rufiji River. It also has a rich variety of birdlife and some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhinos. The reserve is named after the one of the famous British explorers Frederick Courteney Selous who was killed in the reserve during WWI.

Selous Game Reserve and Dar es Salaam

Start the day with a morning walking safari which is approximately 2 hours, you will return back to your camp for shower and breakfast. After breakfast, drive back to Dar es Salaam with your packed lunch boxes. On arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be dropped at the hotel, ferry terminal for the last ferry to Zanzibar or airport for your flight back home.
