Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

Our Driver-guide will pick you from your hotel by 0700hrs or the airport. The journey to Samburu will take approximately 6 hours with a stopover at Nanyuki equator crossing point the right center of Kenya. We shall follow the scenic Nairobi - Nanyuki - Isiolo - Samburu highway that cuts across the central islands and slopes of Mt Kenya. Arrive Samburu in time for lunch, have some relaxation time as you wait for the evening game drive that starts from 1530hrs to 1830hrs

Samburu National Reserve is one of east Africa’s top safari destinations, and is best-known as the home of Kamunyak, a lioness famous for adopting Oryx calves. This is a golden opportunity to view unique wildlife species such as gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, and the blue-legged Somali ostrich. All 3 of the big cats, lion, cheetah, and African leopard, are also found at the reserve.

Thrilling Adventure at Samburu

Early breakfast served from 0600hrs to 0630hrs then head to reserve for game drive from 0700hrs to 1030hrs. You will have a chance to see wildlife grazers such as Cape buffaloes, hippos, and impalas. Other animals are giraffes, olive baboons, warthogs, Grant's gazelle, Kirk's dik-dik, waterbuck, and the black rhino. The park has a frequent water supply for the animals from the Ewaso Nyiro River which hosts a number of crocodiles anticipating their prey.

The reserve has over 450 species of birds that can be spotted e, g kingfisher, vulture, eagle, guinea fowl, Somali ostrich, falcon, bee-eater, hornbill, and egret.

The reserve is also home of archaeological sites, including the Koobi Fora Formation, which is one of the most important fossil sites in the world.

Later head to the lodge for lunch as you wait for the evening game drive from 1530hrs to 1830hrs.
Later return to the lodge for dinner served from 1900hrs to 2100hrs.

Samburu to Nairobi

Enjoy an early morning safari game drive from 0630hrs to 0800hrs followed by a relaxed breakfast back at the lodge.

The expected arrival time in Nairobi by 1600hrs with drop off at the Nairobi hotels or Airport.
