Kigali - Kigali city and Transfer to Volcanoes

Today you will be picked up from the hotel after breakfast. Start the day with a Kigali city tour visiting the Kigali genocide memorial ground, followed by lunch before being transferred to Musanze near Volcanoes National Park. The drive to the Volcanoes is a scenic one, characterized by winding roads, rolling hills, rivers, plantations, and locals going about their daily activities. Arrive and relax by the lodge ready for gorilla trek the following day.

Volcanoes - Gorilla Trekking Experience

Arise early and have breakfast at 6.30 a.m. Thereafter be transferred to the park’s headquarters, the Office of Tourism in Kinigi where you are briefed by the park rangers about the rules and regulations governing Gorilla tracking before you head off to the jungle in search of these gentle and shy giants as they go about their lives in their home. The gorilla trek can last from 1 to six hours or even a whole day depending on the gorilla’s movements. You will be given an hour with the gorilla to take as many pictures and just enjoy watching them play. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required. Moreover, good walking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a hat are recommended. You will carry packed lunch on this day. After the trek, head back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Volcanoes - Monkey Trek - Back to Kigali

Have early breakfast then be transferred to the park’s headquarters for briefing and immediately start off your golden monkey trek. Just like the gorilla trek experience, the same rules apply to golden monkey trekking though not hectic. You will later return to the lodge for lunch then head back to Kigali and be dropped off at your hotel or airport.
