Kampala City tour and transfer to Jinja
Kampala is situated on rolling hills and it is the economic and social hub of Uganda and is an archetypal African capital. The city’s history dates back to the arrival of Captain Frederick Lugard who settled at Old Kampala Hill in the 1890’s. We shall have a city tour here visit some of the major attractions as selected by the guide on the day, and later transfer to Jinja for an overnight.

White Water rafting
Another adventure day. The Upper Nile at Bujjagali, is one of the worlds to white rafting venues. 25 years ago it was just a peaceful and little-visited picnic site until 1996 when commercial rafting was started. Today thousands of adventure seekers visit Jinja for rafting and a plethora of aquatic adventure activities. We shall be in Jinja by 9am for the session, if it ends early enough, we can do a visit to the source of Nile. Have an overnight at the lodge/hotel before our start on the western Uganda trail.

Transfer to Kibale Forest- With a tour to the Amabere Ganyina Mwiru in the afternoon
Today after breakfast, we shall check out for a transfer to Kibale Forest/Fort Portal. Upon Arrival, we shall check in at our lodge and go for an afternoon site visit to the Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru. Fort Portal town is famous for dozens of crater lakes, it also hosts the magnificent features formed in the caves below the foothills of Nyakasura hill. The caves are 10km from Fort Portal town. The breathtaking stalagmites and stalactites- Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru are part of a handful of tourist attractions in and around Fort Portal. From here we shall drive back to the lodge for an overnight.

Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Wetland walk
The highlight of any visit to Kibale is Chimpanzee tracking excursion that leave twice a day at 8.00am and 14.00pm. We shall opt for a morning walk in the forest for chimpanzee tracking and this will be after our breakfast. Chimpanzees are well habituated and allow approach within 8-10m of individuals that will be feeding and others grooming. Guides will lead you after briefing takes a maximum of about 4 hours including the 1 hour you are allowed for watching. You can carry your packed lunch. After lunch, we shall have an afternoon walk at Bigodi community walk, which will give you an understanding of the communities around the park and also chances for watching the life outside the park.

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park and do the afternoon crater drive
Today after check out, we transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park. We shall drive for about an hour and a half and arrive at our lodge. Check in and settle in, have lunch and later in the afternoon we do a crater drive. The park boasts an impressive variety of habitats that harbors wildlife from the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha, the Kazinga channel, mammals of Kasenyi plains, predators of Mweya peninsular, and seismic scenery. The explosion crater lakes from Kikorongo to Katwe shade the northern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive-in is on a ridge with a high point of 1350m ASL. The drive offers views of Lake George at the start of the climb, vegetation-filled craters, and others filled with water to form lakes. After the drive we return to the lodge for an overnight.

Morning Game drive and afternoon Boat safari on the Kazinga Channel
Today is a big game day in Queen Elizabeth National park. We shall have an early breakfast and drive to the Kasenyi plains for a morning game drive. The area is crisscrossed by a labyrinthine network of game viewing roads in the short-grass savanna and we shall drive through in search of resident lion prides, leopards, elephants, herds of kobs, buffaloes, singing birds, and others of the 95 mammals in the park. After, we shall return to the lodge for lunch before our cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This will create a relaxed afternoon of game watching on the 40km long channel, whose 10km is host active tourism. Later we return for dinner and overnight.

Ishasha sector game drive and transfer to Ruhija sector of Bwindi Forest
Bwindi Forest is just 62km south of Ishasha sector of QENP. Today we shall have breakfast and checkout of our accommodation for Bwindi but we shall have a game drive in the Ishasha sector to try our chances for seeing the tree climbing lions. Ishasha is somewhat removed from the rest of the park and is famous for tree climbing lions. Mostly those intent on seeing the lions up in the tree, it usually happens during the heat of the day. So this time could be better on our en route to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Gorilla tracking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Uganda’s single most important tourist hotspot is the 331sqk Bwindi forest that covers a rugged landscape of steep hills and valleys abutting the Congolese border south of Ishasha sector. The forest provides shelter to some of Africa’s diverse mammalian fauna that includes half population of mountain gorillas and the main activity here is gorilla tracking. Today we shall drive to the head offices of Bwindi Forest Park for orientation and briefing before we hit the trails for an amazing encounter with the mountain gorillas. The activity can last 3-8 hours depending on the location of gorillas. After the tracking we shall transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for an overnight.

Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National park
Today morning we explore the area around the flooded river valley that makes Lake Bunyonyi and do a boat cruise to visit some of the 29 islands that are on the lake before we set off for Lake Mburo National park. We shall arrive at the lodge, check in, have lunch and later in the afternoon at around 3, we go for a walk in the park. A ranger guide will lead us through the park on foot as we close the gap getting closer to animals and also learning the details that are usually missed while on game drives.

Community tour and transfer to Entebbe
Today we have breakfast and later we shall visit the communities and engage with the local Bahima who are famous for herding the long-horn cattle breed and learn about their way of life, try traditional cow milking, see how ghee is made, among others before we set for Kampala/Entebbe. We drive to Kampala with a stop at the equator at Kayabwe-Mpigi for the equator experience and souvenir shopping.

Shoebill search and departure
The shoebill is the most sought after of Ugandan birds. The rare bird is a native to a swamp near Entebbe-Mabamba swamp. Here there is a 90% success rate of seeing the bird. Today we shall have breakfast, and drive to Nakiwogo landing site where we shall board a motorized canoes to the swamp. We shall spend hours riding through boat trails made in the swamp as we search for the bird. Later we return to the guesthouse for lunch and depending on your flight schedule you will be dropped at the airport for your exit flight.
