Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry riverbed in Tarangire for underground streams. This park features the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem—a smorgasbord for predators. It’s one of the few places in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.

The jewel in Ngorongoro's crown is a deep, volcanic crater—the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. At about 20kms across, 600m deep, and 300 sq kms in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner that is one of the crater’s main features. A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other water birds can usually been seen here.

Ngorongoro - Serengeti National Park
After breakfast you’ll depart for Ndutu in the southern Serengeti for a full day game drive. This will be the beginning of our time witnessing the Great Migration. At lunch time your driver will set and prepare the table for a hot meal of soup, bread rolls, a main dish, and fruit salad. After a glass of wine, tea, or coffee we’ll continue with a game drive until the evening. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.
You’ll explore a range of different habitats here, including swamps, woodland, soda lakes, and the world-famous Serengeti short grass plains. You’ll also see great herds of wildebeest and zebra. Over a roughly three-week period in February, most of the wildebeest calve. The sea of grass provides little cover, and the young are easy pickings for a variety of predators.

After breakfast at the camp, you’ll go on a game drive in the Ndutu area to explore the grassy plains and woodlands in the area. You’ll track herds of wildebeest and zebra and witness the birth of new calves. Be sure to keep a lookout for predators such as lion, cheetah, and hyena on the hunt. At lunch time your driver will set and prepare the table for a hot meal of soup, bread rolls, a main dish, and fruit salad. After a glass of wine, tea, or coffee we’ll continue with a game drive until the evening. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.
It is the Great Migration for which the Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May, and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge, or crocodile-infested river can hold them back.
