Day 1

Nairobi City - Samburu National Reserve

Nairobi City - Samburu National Reserve

You will be picked up from the airport with a briefing by your guide-driver. You will be driven north past the equator to the Northern Frontier district. Continue to the semi-arid Samburu National Reserve and check in at your campsite. Have lunch at the lodge. There will be time to settle in before your safari adventure in the afternoon. Set out for an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Enjoy twice-daily game drives where you will see huge and majestic elephant, lion, leopard and cheetah, and all of the "Special Five’" which include the beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk antelope, and Somali ostrich.

In the hot and arid lowlands of the Northern districts of Kenya, featuring doum palms and over 450 species of birds, there are interesting experiences to keep you fascinated over the next day or two. Return to the lodge before dark, settle in and have your dinner in the tented lodge.

Day 2

Set out for an early morning game drive in the Samburu Reserve for the whole day. The morning is usually the most popular game-viewing time. During the early hours, the temperatures are low, thus providing a favorable atmosphere both for the game and the viewer. Lion, cheetah, and leopard roam the vast grasslands in search of their next meal - it may be an unsuspecting impala or even a small animal like a warthog. The spectacle of nature unfolding is always amazing to watch from the pop-up roof.

Day 3

After an early breakfast, enjoy a game drive en-route to the gate. Drive in a southern direction to the equator. Here, the locals do a water demonstration to qualify the position of the equator and for a small tip. After the brief stop, drive to Thompson's Falls for a photo stop then continue down into the Great Rift Valley. As you ascend the Eastern wall of the Rift Valley, lush coffee and tea plantations reveal themselves and your driver-guide will give you a brief talk about coffee farming in Kenya. Arrive at the hotel for check-in and have lunch. In the afternoon, have another game drive. Dinner will be at Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Check out and drive via Narok town to Masai Mara National Reserve, the land of the Maasai tribe. The proud young Maasai warrior-nomads with their plaited hair, red cloaks, and spears, challenge your curiosity. The 700-square-mile reserve is the Africa of your dreams, complete with wild animals grazing amid the superb rolling landscape of gentle hills and acacia woodlands. Check in at your lodge and have lunch. There will be time to settle in before your first afternoon game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve. In the afternoon, have a game drive in the reserve. Return to the lodge before dark for dinner at Jambo Mara Safari Lodge.

Day 6

Have breakfast in the lodge and then check out. Drive to Lake Naivasha where you will have lunch. After lunch, have a boat ride at an extra cost of $40 per person to Lake Naivasha, which is the only freshwater lake in the Great Rift Valley. Lake Naivasha is in Kenya, outside the town of Naivasha in Nakuru County, which lies northwest of Nairobi. It is part of the Great Rift Valley. The afternoon boat ride among colonies of hippos will be the ideal view over Lake Naivasha. There are many activities you can do in Hell’s Gate including walking, cycling, rock climbing, bird watching, and trekking through the gorge amongst the geysers, the choice is yours. Enjoy a picnic lunch and depart for your accommodation in the mid-afternoon at Lake Naivasha for a well-earned hot shower and a cold drink.

We depart for Amboseli via Nairobi after breakfast and drive south through Maasai country to the plains below Mount Kilimanjaro where Amboseli is situated. After an en-route picnic lunch with the majestic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, enjoy the spectacular displays of wildlife like lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo, and various plains game. Postcard-perfect pictures are almost always guaranteed and finally, you will return to Sentrim Amboseli.

Have an early morning game drive then return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, proceed with a full-day game drive in the park with a packed lunch. You'll be in search of its popular residents like the well-known predators and their prey such as zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, and hippo - with a view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Spend the full day in Amboseli National Park with morning and afternoon game drives. This park is termed an animal's paradise. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and your overnight stay at Sentrim Amboseli lodge.
