Day 1

Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at your lodge, meet your safari driver guide and chef, then start with your tour. The first stop will be in Arusha town for any last-minute purchases before heading to Tarangire National Park for a game drive. A packed lunch will be served at one of the picnic sites inside the park. Tarangire is famous for its huge elephant population and giant baobab trees. You can expect to spot herds of elephant, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, baboon and many antelope. Birds are also abundant here. You may spot the three rare species - Ash starling, greater kudu and fringe-eared oryx. Predators like lion, leopard, cheetah, jackal, and hyena can also be seen. The park forms the central annual migratory cycle within the Tarangire/Lake Manyara ecosystem, which includes up to 3,000 elephant, 25,000 wildebeest and about 30,000 zebra. In the late afternoon, you will drive toward the base of the Great Rift Valley for overnight at Migombani camp or similar.

Tarangire – Ngorongoro Crater

You will drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 600 meters into the crater floor for a game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is a rich area with enough water and fodder to support a variety of animal species, which includes herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo and giant African elephant. The crater is home to some rare species of black rhino living in their natural habitat. This is perhaps among the few areas where you can see black rhino in the natural wilderness. Another interesting part of this picturesque caldera is its dense population of predators, which include lion, hyena, jackals, and the ever-mysterious leopard - that sometimes needs a binocular to spot. You will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner. It is frequently visited by hippos, flocks of flamingos and other waterbirds. Late afternoon, drive to the campsite in Serengeti National Park for sunset, dinner and overnight.

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive around Serengeti National Park with its endless rolling plains. The central park area, called Seronera, is named after the river which is a valuable source of water in the park, attracting a large number of animal species. In the Serengeti/Masai Mara ecosystem, Seronera is among the richest habitats in Serengeti where you can see animals fighting, hunting, eating, or even killing. A packed lunch is to be served inside the park on the way. After lunch and some rest, proceed on a sunset game drive in the vast Serengeti plains in search of the migration of herds (depending on the season). In the late afternoon, during or before sunset, drive back to your campsite for dinner and overnight.

Main Destination:

Best Time To Visit January to February and June to October (Different areas are best at different times)
High Season July to March (The Seronera area is crowded)

Serengeti National Park – Lake Natron

Go on an early morning game drive, which allows you to spot some cat families on the road as they avoid the morning mist. You may also see other nocturnal predators returning from their long night of hunting, or a group of lionesses organizing a morning ambush. If you visit during the ildebeest migration, it will be packed in the Serengeti and you will go straight to where they are located. Spend some time with them before starting your en route game drive toward northern Serengeti. Check out at Klein’s gate and drive to Lake Natron where you will arrive in the late afternoon. Go for a sunset walk along the lakeshore if time permits. You will overnight at Masai Giraffe Lodge.
