Day 2

Masai Mara National Reserve

Masai Mara National Reserve

Spend the entire day exploring this world-famous game reserve with a packed picnic lunch. This reserve is not only the most popular game reserve in the country, it is probably the reason why most people visit Kenya. The reserve is set on classic African savannah and the huge density of wildlife is astounding. Zebra, wildebeest, and gazelle graze in large herds, and, where prey is aplenty, so are the predators. The reserve covers an area of approximately 1,510 sq. km of open grassland as well as the Mara River and Talek River (which is a tributary of the former). It is very common to see the big cats hunting as they are also abundant here. The leopard is the hardest to spot of the famous Big Five, but in the Mara, you will find it easier as it relaxes on a tree. Hippos, buffaloes, elephants, and giraffes also exist in large numbers. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
