On arrival at Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport you will be met and transferred to Mukambi Safari Lodge. During the 3.5 – 4 hour long transfer you will leave behind the busyness of the city and slowly be immersed into the African bush’s unique soothing atmosphere. Your private transfer guide can answer any questions you may have along the way.
Mukambi Safari Lodge overlooks the stunning Kafue River and is also known as “the Gateway” to Kafue National Park, Africa’s largest National Park.
Arrive at Mukambi Safari Lodge in time for tea break and afternoon activities to include a sunset boat cruise or afternoon game drive. Alternatively you may of course also opt to simply relax at the lodge by taking take a dip in the pool or enjoy a massage.
Upon return to the lodge dinner awaits you.

Game drive transfer to Fig tree Bush Camp
This morning a 1.5 hour game drive will transfer you from Mukambi Safari Lodge to your next destination, Fig Tree Bush Camp.
Arrive at Fig Tree Bush Camp in time for a brunch and check into one the Camp’s
four tented chalets. The chalets are built on 3-meter high platforms above the ground, either offering a spectacular view over the Shishamba River or facing the plains, overlooking the watering hole in front of the camp’s infinity pool.
After settling into your room, enjoy the afternoon tea break followed by an afternoon game drive.
Return to the camp for a delicious dinner underneath the Fig Tree, after which the camp is named.

Explore Kafue National Park with Fig Tree Bush as your base
Fig Tree Bush Camp is a luxury bush camp located in an undiscovered part of Kafue National Park.
During the next two days you will have many opportunities to get to know this area, its wildlife and interesting mix of vegetation, from the open plains and tall grass, to the Miomba woodlands.
Fig Tree offers game drives in the morning and evening, with the latter turning into a night safari. Walking safaris are another exciting way to experience the wildlife and nature. Apart from plains game such as antelope, you can look forward to sightings of predators like lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena, as well as the wild dog who prey on the concentration of game.
However, if you wish to take it a bit slower, simply relax at the camp by taking take a dip in the pool or having an afternoon rest in the hammock overlooking the lagoon.
In the evenings you will return to the camp with the fire ready and time enough to enjoy a wholesome dinner under all the stars the night sky has to offer.

Game drive transfer from to Busanga Plains Camp
Today an approximately 5-hour game drive will take you from Fig Tree Bush Camp to Busanga Plains Camp, a seasonal luxury bush camp located deep in the heart of the famous Busanga Plains in the north of beautiful Kafue National Park.
Arrive at Busanga Plains Camp in time for lunch and make yourself comfortable in your luxury safari tent with an open air en-suit bathroom.
In the you will have the first opportunity to venture out on an afternoon game drive to explore the surrounding areas.
Should you wish to relax instead, enjoy a refreshing dip in the camp’s pool or sunbathe on the wooden deck whilst overlooking the surrounding wetlands, or simply experience the total peace of nature from your own private veranda.

Explore the Busanga Plains
During the following two days and nights you will have many opportunities to get to know this area better.
Game drives typically depart at sunrise and in the afternoon drive (partly a night drive). Walking safaris leave the camp shortly after sunrise to avoid the heat of the day and take place around the plains surrounding the camp.
Busanga Plains landscape is made up of palm groves, papyrus-choked reed beds and lily-covered lagoons. A truly magical place where you will be able to experience a wide variety of wildlife such as lion, cheetah, buffalo, hippopotamus, oribi, roan, lechwe, zebra and wildebeest, as well as large numbers of elephants and 500 recorded bird species.
You may opt to spend one of the nights in the open-air star bed. A bed, raised up on a wooden platform, high up in the trees with nothing but the vast, star speckled African Skye to gaze at and get lost in. This is certainly a once in a lifetime, humbling and also awe-inspiring experience.

Game drive transfer to Mukambi Safari Lodge
After your early morning tea another approximately 6 hour game drive will have you waving good-bye to Busanga Plains Camp and transfer you back to Mukambi Safari Lodge for your last night inside the Kafue National Park.
Arrive back at Mukambi Safari Lodge in the course of the early afternoon. After settling into your room you have the option of enjoying more game activities such as another game drive, a walking Safari or perhaps a sunset boat cruise. You will be able to experience African wildlife such as such as elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetah, hippos, crocodiles as well as antelopes and a plethora of birds.
Enjoy a last delicious dinner in the African bush.

Road transfer back to Lusaka
Today you will bid farewell to Mukambi Safari Lodge and the Kafue National Park.
Depending on your travel itinerary you may still be able to enjoy a morning activity such as a game drive, guided bush walk, a fishing trip on the river, or a visit to Mukambi’s community school.
Alternatively, relax alongside the lodge’s infinity pool, overlooking the vast Kafue River before an approximately 4-hour private road transfer will take you back to Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport for your onward journey.
