We pick you up at the airport or hotel in the morning at around 7:30AM and drive 5 to 6 hours to Selous, arriving at lunch time. After lunch, go for an evening boat safari on the Rufiji River. Here, you can experience aquatic life and will see plenty of crocodiles and hippos. You will also see various other animals coming to the water to drink. The reserve has over 440 recorded bird species, so you will also have an abundance of birdlife. After enjoying an amazing sunset, return to Selous Mapumziko Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 2

A Full-day Game Drive in Selous Game Reserve

A Full-day Game Drive in Selous Game Reserve

Enjoy an early breakfast at 06:00, then proceed on a 20 to 30 minutes drive to Selous Game Reserve for a full-day game drive. On this specially-modified safari vehicle with a professional guide, you will see and learn a lot about the animals, including all the great favorites like lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, and all the other major species, including the rare African wild dog. Enjoy the great variety of bird species, wonderful scenery, and varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with views of far-off mountains.

You have time to enjoy your packed lunch and a break. Your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink, and with a clear view all around so that no predator can creep up unseen! Return to your accommodation at Selous Mapumziko Lodge by 6:30 for sunset and to have dinner when you’re ready.

Day 3

An Early Morning Walking Safari at Selous & Depart to Kilwa

An Early Morning Walking Safari at Selous & Depart to Kilwa

Go on an early morning walking safari with a Bushman across the reserve's environment. You will learn about various histories (including traditional trees used as medicines for traditional healing, various animals’ footprints and other small animals which you cannot see during the game drive). You may also be able to spot some animals heading to the river and hippos returning to their dwelling after their forage. You will then return to the camp for breakfast.

After breakfast, drive to the historical town of Kilwa. On arrival, check in at Kimbilio Lodge and have lunch. After lunch, relax at the beautiful beaches of the Indian Ocean and enjoy the fresh air and cool sea breeze until sunset. Return to the lodge in the late evening and stay overnight at Kimbilio Lodge.

Today, you visit Kilwa Masoko to see the preserved, cultural ruins of the Ottoman Arab era and various historical sites, including the "Great Mosque of Kilwa". In the late evening, return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay at Kimbilio Lodge (Meal plan : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included).

Kilwa is a port town on the Indian Ocean. It is a very relaxed and accommodating coastal town, boasting brilliant beaches and historical cultural ruins.

After breakfast, drive for about 4 to 5 hours back to Dar es Salaam with lunch on the way, arriving in the afternoon. We will drop you off at the hotel or the airport to catch your flight back home (Breakfast & Lunch included).
