Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, we will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a full-day game drive. After entering the park's main gate, you pass through a lush, evergreen forest created by groundwater that comes from the Ngorongoro Highlands. It has dense acacia woodland and offers an opportunity to watch impressively tusked elephants. Around the lake, there is a grassy floodplain dotted with large herds of buffalos, zebras, wildebeests, and giraffes.
Lake Manyara is also one of the finest parks for bird lovers with more than 380 species that have been recorded here. They include pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large waterbirds such as pelicans, cormorants, and storks. You will see hippos bathing in the water. The forest is home to leopards, whilst Manyara's lions are famous for their tree-climbing behavior (though not easily seen). Have lunch at a picnic site, and later in the afternoon, we drive to our lodge in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Ngorongoro Crater back to Arusha
After breakfast, we will drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before descending down the crater floor for a game drive to view the wildlife.
With its abundant water, excellent grazing, and natural protection from the densely vegetated crater walls, the crater provides shelter to over 25,000 animals, including the endangered black rhinoceros. The crater and surrounding highlands are one of Africa's most beautiful regions, with volcanic craters forming stunning backdrops to some of the richest grazing grounds in Africa.
With 600-meter high walls and a rich volcanic floor covering 260km2, a crater formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself 2 to 3 million years ago. It is estimated that the height of the original volcano ranged from 4,500 to 5,800 meters high. You will enjoy lunch at a picnic site inside the crater. In the afternoon, we ascend the crater and drive back to the airport in Arusha or Kilimanjaro for your flight back home.
