2 travelers on Start dateNairobi-Sirimoni Gate-Old Moses Camp
You'll leave Nairobi city at exactly 7 am and head off to Nanyuki. You will briefly stop in Nanyuki for breakfast and shopping then proceed to Sirimon Gate which will be the Starting point, (2650m ASL). From here, you'll hike 9 km up to the Old Moses Camp (3300m).
This two to three-hour hike is essential for acclimatization and is also very fascinating as you hike through the four mountain vegetation belts —the tropical rain forest, bamboo jungle, rosewood, and heather zones. These are also the areas where you are most likely to see animals and more importantly the rarest species only found in Mt Kenya such as Mt Kenya chameleon.
