Arusha - Tarangire National Park - Karatu
After breakfast at around 8 am our safari guide collects you from the lodge and drives you to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2 hours). The park is named after the Tarangire River which runs through it. This is the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. In some places, the vegetation is quite dense, including elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and lush groundwater forest. The park is well known for its elephant families, which can often be seen congregating by the river. Huge herds of elephants are a distinctive feature of Tarangire. Also, many massive baobab trees are one of the most enduring symbols of Africa. The grassland, swamps, and floodplains found here are home to big cats, giraffes, baboons, and hippos —plus many, many more species. You'll have lunch at the picnic site. In the afternoon, you will drive to Karatu town approx. 2 hours to your accommodation where you'll take the opportunity to relax and enjoy dinner.

Karatu - Central Serengeti National Park - Via Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, you'll depart towards the most famous national park in the World, the Serengeti. The driving is long but spectacular. You'll stop at the Loduare gate entrance to the Ngorongoro and continue to drive. You'll have a brief stop at the crater viewpoint then proceed. You'll stop at the Naabi Hill gate for lunch and paperwork. As you progress, you will see why the name means, in the local Maasai language, "endless plains". The plains stretch to the horizon defying your senses and perception of distances. As for big cats and large predators, it's the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Millions of wildebeests and zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May, and June. Serengeti is truly home to the legendary great wildebeest migration. You'll arrive at the tented camp in the evening to enjoy the sunset.

Central Serengeti National Park - Northern Part Kogatende Area close to the Great Mara River
Early morning after breakfast, you will drive from the central Serengeti to the North Serengeti also known as Kogatende to follow the great migration of more than a million wildebeests and more than 250,000 zebras accompanied by antelopes. The drive takes approximately 2 hours. You will explore the vast Serengeti with its endless plains looking for the big cats as well as the migrating herds. The migrating herds are found on the northern Serengeti from July to October before heading to Masai Mara. If you’re lucky enough, here is the best place to witness the wildebeests crossing the Mara River as well as the hungry crocodiles hunting their prey. After lunch and further game drive, you will head back to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay. You will spend these 3 nights in the Northern Serengeti National Park. Mid-July through October, the migration heads north, out of the central Serengeti, splitting into two routes.

Witnessing the Great Migration Crossing the Mara River
You will spend 2 days alongside the Mara River. You plan with your guide the best times to start and the best spots. During this period, the herd continues its movement north towards the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. There is no tight schedule that these animals follow, and so tracking the herd's movements becomes a day-to-day prospect as they meander slowly but inexorably toward the next big obstacle in their path —the Mara River. The Mara River poses another deadly barrier for the herd, who must again brave swollen waters and opportunistic predators if they are to find relatively safety on the far side. Photographers and documentarians from around the world gather to witness the death-defying crossing, but the surrounding landscapes are every bit as memorable as the life-and-death struggle taking place at the Kogatende crossing.
Other carnivores are also found in this area such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. You may also book the balloon safari at an extra cost.
