Day 1

Pick up from Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha town

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our driver guide will pick you up and drive you to Arusha town, also known as “A-Town" by the locals. It is situated at the foot of Mount Meru, Africa’s 5th highest mountain. Arusha is not a particularly attractive city in itself and is regarded by many visitors as little more than a necessary stopover before and after their safari. Arusha is located in the center of the African continent, between Cairo and Cape Town.

You will arrive at Arusha Planet Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, ready for your 7-day wildebeest migration and calving safari.

Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will check out and your guide will give you a short overview/brief about your safari. You will then drive to Tarangire National Park with packed lunch boxes for a full-day game drive.

Tarangire is the 6th largest national park in Tanzania after Ruaha, Serengeti, Mikumi, Katavi and Mkomazi. Activities will include a wildlife game drive where you can see pythons climb trees, as well as lions and leopards among others. For the bird lovers, keep an eye out for the screeching flocks of colorful yellow-collared lovebirds, and the somewhat drabber rufous-tailed weaver and ashy starling. These birds are all endemic to the dry savannah of north-central Tanzania.

Later in the evening, you will drive to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay on a full-board basis.

Day 3

Tarangire to Southern Serengeti - Ndutu Area

Tarangire to Southern Serengeti - Ndutu Area

After breakfast and with our packed lunch boxes, we will start our safari to the Ndutu area for a full-day game drive. Ndutu is within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and is situated in the southern part of the Serengeti ecosystem.

Lake Ndutu, like most other Rift Valley lakes, is alkaline. However, the water is still drinkable and consumed by a wide array of local wildlife. The majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short grassplains from December to March. The area is usually heavily populated with elephants, birds, and resident game.

In the evening you will drive to your camp for dinner and an overnight stay on a full-board basis.

Day 4

Full Day in Ndutu Area

Full Day in Ndutu Area

After breakfast, you will start on your game drive in the Ndutu area along the southern part of Serengeti. Explore a great range of various habitats such as swamps, woodland, soda lakes, and the world-famous Serengeti short grassplains.

You will witness herds of especially wildebeest and zebra during a short time frame from around February. It lasts for about 3 weeks when the majority of the wildebeest calves. The sea of grass provides little cover and the young make easy prey for a variety of predators. Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days, they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd. Later, you will return to your camp for dinner and an overnight stay on a full-board basis.

Day 5

Ndutu to Serengeti National Park

Ndutu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and drive to Serengeti National Park (Central area) for a full-day game drive with your packed lunch boxes. The Serengeti's “endless plains” is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park.

Serengeti is famed for its annual migration where some 6 million hooves pound the open plains. Serengeti offers the most exotic game-viewing experience in the whole of Africa, giving you an up-close look at the animals you’ve only seen in National Geographic. You'll see great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala, Grant’s gazelle and many more.

You will return for dinner and your overnight stay at your camp on a full-board basis.

After breakfast, we will have a half-day game drive around Serengeti. In the afternoon, we will have lunch at the picnic site and then start driving to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We will have an en-route game drive to your lodge within Ngorongoro for dinner and an overnight stay on a full-board basis.

We’ll leave after breakfast and descend the Ngorongoro Crater floor with our packed lunch boxes. More than 20,000 different mammals live in this area, including about 20 black rhinoceros. This makes the crater the best place in Tanzania to see these amazing creatures.

The crater floor also has one of the highest carnivore densities in the world. Game drives will be done until the afternoon. Lunch will be at the picnic site on the crater floor, after which we ascend the crater. We then drive back to Kilimanjaro Airport via Arusha town for your connecting flight to Zanzibar.
