Kigali - Akagera National Park (2h30 drive)

05h00: Pick up from the hotel in Kigali and set off for Akagera National Park.
Stop en route at Imigongo art center and restaurant for breakfast.
You will also carry a full picnic hamper and a selection of drinks that you will have at the park picnic site over lunch.
08h00: Arrive at the park headquarters for tour formalities and briefing.
Immediately set off for the Lake Ihema jetty.
09h00: Depart for a guided boat ride. Lining the lakes are some of the continent’s densest concentrations of water birds, while the connecting marshes are the haunt of the endangered and exquisite papyrus gonolek, and the bizarre shoebill stork - the latter perhaps the most eagerly sought of all African birds.

10h30: Once done with the boat ride, rejoin your driver guide and proceed for a game viewing drive in the park.

Picnic lunch.
Later in the evening, transfer to your lodge for check-in. Dinner and overnight stay.

The game drive in Akagera National Park provides you with the opportunity to view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. You will visit the Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero. Akagera National park is a home for animals like elephant buffalo, Giraffe, zebra and more than a dozen types of antelope inhabit the park, most commonly the handsome chestnut-coated impala, but also the diminutive oribi and secretive bushbuck, as well as the ungainly tsessebe and the world's largest antelope, the statuesque Cape eland.
Lunch is picnic or you can have a hot lunch at lake mihindi restaurant.

17h00: You will exit from North and drive to Kigali. Arrive and drop off at your hotel or at the airport.
