Gorilla trekking
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters where you will have an orientation and meet your guides for the day. Trekking the mountain gorilla is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The trek will take between 2 and 7 hours but is well worth the effort. You will be led by an experienced ranger who will tell you interesting facts about flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the gorillas. The trekking is a thrill, though quite challenging, as you hike through the forest. Once you reach a gorilla family, you will have a chance to observe the family in close proximity for an hour.
In the afternoon after lunch, you have the option (at a cost) to visit "Ride 4 a Woman", a charitable organization set up to support women who are victims of poverty, HIV epidemic, and domestic violence. Otherwise, you can also visit the Batwa pygmy community nearby, and learn about their way of life and the history of their transition from being relocated from the forest.
