Day 1

Drive to Murchison Falls National Park

Drive to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, you will head to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at the rhino sanctuary. This 70 sq km sanctuary is home to over 40 white rhinos and its main purpose is to reintroduce rhinos to Uganda. This is a very nice opportunity to observe the rhinos in their habitat at close range while on foot. After this, we will have a lunch stop and thereafter proceed to Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 2

Game drives & boat safari on the River Nile

Game drives & boat safari on the River Nile

You will wake up very early and set off at 6:30 am for a morning game drive on the Northern bank and return to the lodge at around 11 am. You will see baboons, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kobs, hartebeests, oribis, waterbucks, bushbucks, reedbucks, warthogs and side-striped jackals. The carnivores include lions, leopards and spotted hyenas.

After lunch, you will head to the jetty for an afternoon boat cruise on the River Nile where you can expect to see a number of hippos and crocodiles along the banks of the Nile. You will also see birds like goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelicans, bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbills, cormorants, saddle-billed storks, and shoe-billed storks if lucky. After 2 hours, you will be dropped off at the bottom of the magnificent Murchison Falls. From there, you will hike up to the top of the falls where you will meet your driver-guide who will drive you back to the lodge.

Day 3

Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, you will depart from Murchison Falls and proceed to Kibale Forest National Park. We always regard this route as a full-day drive, depending on the condition of the road. You arrive at Kibale at around 4:00 pm. This gives enough time for those who would like to go for a community walk to visit the crater lakes region with spectacular views of the lakes.

Day 4

Chimpanzee-trekking experience

Chimpanzee-trekking experience

You will wake up for an early breakfast and thereafter proceed to the park headquarters in Kibale Forest National Park. After a short briefing by one of the park staff, you will be allocated a guide who will lead you into the forest to find the chimpanzees. This park is the only place in East Africa where you can have the best primate tracking experience to view the chimpanzee - man’s closest relative. After lunch, we will proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park where we have a 1-night stopover to lessen the distance between Kibale Forest and Bwindi Forest.

Day 5

Game drive & boat safari on the Kazinga Channel

Game drive & boat safari on the Kazinga Channel

You will wake up very early and set off at 6:30 am for a morning game drive with the aim of catching sight of the early risers in their natural habitat. We can expect to see the Big 4 (elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard). Also look out for bushbuck, kob, giant forest hog, hyena, waterbuck, and many birds. After lunch, we will head to the jetty for an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Expect to see a number of animals along the banks and a variety of waterbirds.

Drive to Bwindi Forest National Park

Drive to Bwindi Forest National Park

Today you will set off to Bwindi via Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here, we will do a short game drive as we search for the tree-climbing lions. Expect to see a number of elephants, buffaloes, lions, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, leopards, and hyenas. Thereafter, we will proceed to Bwindi Forest National Park.

Day 7

Gorilla-trekking experience

Start the day early with a briefing at the Bwindi Forest National Park headquarters before embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime experience of trekking mountain gorillas. Led by experienced guides, you'll hike through the dense forest to observe a family of gorillas in their natural habitat. Spend an hour in the presence of these incredible creatures, observing their behaviors and interactions.

After the trek, return to your lodge for some rest. In the afternoon, take part in a community walk, where you'll visit local villages, learn about the culture and daily lives of the Batwa people, and gain insights into conservation efforts.

After breakfast, depart from Bwindi Forest National Park and enjoy a scenic drive through the hills of southwestern Uganda to Lake Bunyonyi, located in Kabale. Known for its serene waters and picturesque islands, Lake Bunyonyi is a perfect place to unwind after your trekking adventure. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and take in the breathtaking views of the lake.

You can relax by the lakeside or choose optional activities like canoeing, bird watching, or a boat tour to explore some of the lake's 29 islands.
