After breakfast, your guide will lead you to the park headquarters for a briefing on the do’s and don’ts of gorilla trekking. Armed with packed lunches in hand, you'll venture into the misty rainforest for a 2–6-hour trek (depending on the gorillas’ location).
Make sure you have sturdy shoes, a non-flash camera, a rain jacket, and enough water for the journey. Once you locate the gorillas, you'll have an hour to admire, observe, and take photos of them.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and some rest. Later, you’ll embark on a community walk to visit the Batwa people, an indigenous group that has lived in the forest for thousands of years. Serengeti National Park, meaning “endless plains” in the Maasai language, is undoubtedly one of the world’s most celebrated wilderness areas and is an ongoing source of inspiration to writers, filmmakers, and photographers. It is Tanzania’s oldest game reserve and is renowned for the part it plays in the annual Great Migration. This is when millions of wildebeest and antelope migrate to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.
