Entebbe
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked by our Kubwa Five Safaris representative. From here you’ll be transferred to the guest house. On this trip you will climb the Rwenzori Mountains, trek with mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, and go on breathtaking game drives and a boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Cycad Entebbe Guest House.

Entebbe - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Along the way you will stop at the equator in Masaka. This is where an imaginary line divides our planet into two equal hemispheres. Snacks, souvenirs, and photographs may be acquired here.
You will have lunch on the way and reach Bwindi between 1:00-2:00pm in time for check in at your hotel.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, we will prepare for our gorilla tracking adventure, which begins at 8:00am, with a briefing at the information center by the Uganda Wildlife Authority staff. We will then be guided into the jungle in search of these shy primates.
The trek may take 3-7 hours, but it is well worth the effort. Once you get sight of the gorillas, you will have an hour to admire, observe, and take photos of them. You should bring a rain jacket and hiking boots.
At the end of this long and exciting adventure, you’ll return to the lodge for a well-deserved shower. Eat lunch and then pay a visit to the Batwa, who are an indigenous group of people native to this area.

Bwindi - Queen Elizabeth
After breakfast, you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is a huge park where humans and wildlife coexist in harmony.
Upon arrival, you will go for a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Some of the best wildlife sightings happen on boat cruises. You’ll see squacco herons, pied kingfishers, large numbers of buffalos and hippos, basking crocodiles, and many other bird species and large mammals.

Queen Elizabeth National Park
You’ll depart a 6:00am for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Our goal is to spot lions on the hunt during the cooler temperatures. You can also expect to see Uganda kob, elephants, buffalo, warthog, leopard, and waterbuck.
After your morning game drive, your driver-guide will drive you to Kasese, where we’ll check your hiking gear and make sure you have everything you need.

Mitunga Gate (1615m) – Nyabitaba Camp (2651m)
After breakfast at 8:00am, your guide and porters will pick you from the hotel and start the journey to Rwenzori Mountains National Park. You’ll begin your climb at the Mitunga Gate (1615m)
After a briefing you’ll begin making your way through farmland to the park boundary. You’ll follow a thick forest along the Mubuku River and cross the Mahoma River tributary before starting a long, steep climb up onto a massive ridge to reach the Nyabitaba hut.
During this part of the trip, you may hear chimpanzees and see black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and the brilliantly colored Rwenzori turaco. On your right hand side, you’ll catch glimpses of Portal Peak.
Hike duration: 6-7 hours.

Nyabitaba (2651m) – John Mate Camp (3505m)
From Nyabitaba we’ll follow the trail that drops down through the forest to the Kurt Shafer Bridge, just below the confluence of the Mubuku and Bujuku rivers.
Passing through the bamboo forest, you’ll traverse through a long and exhausting stretch of slippery moss-covered rock. From the Nyamuleju rock shelter, Mount Stanley and Mount Speke can be seen before passing into the zone of the giant heather, lobelia, and groundsel. You’ll finally reach the John Matte Hut after passing through the bog.
Hike duration: 7-8 hours.
Elevation height: 854m.

John Maatte (3505m) – Bujuku Camp (3962m)
From John Matte Hut the trail drops down to cross the Bujuku River and enters Lower Bigo Bog, the home of giant lobelias. Jumping from tussock to tussock, the bog is finally crossed, but rarely without stepping into some of the freezing mud!
The upper Bigo Bog gives way to Bujuku Lake, with views of Mt. Baker to the South and Mt. Stanley to the West. Bujuku Hut, which is located in the shadow of Mt. Baker and Mt. Speke, is set in a narrow valley below Stuhlmann Pass.
This camp is good for acclimatization for clients attempting to summit the peaks of Mount Stanley and Mount Speke.
Hike duration: 4-5 hours.

Bujuku (3962m) – Elena Camp (4541m)
After leaving Bujuku, the trail takes you through more bog as you climb the steep slopes west of the lake and through the magical Groundsel Gully Forest.
The trail to your right leads to the Elena Hut and Mount Stanley on a steep trail over large boulders, while the trail on your left leads to Scott-Elliot Pass and down to the Kitandara Lakes.
Those summitting the peak will have dinner and their overnight stay at the icy Elena Hut.

Elena Hut (4541m) – Margherita Peak (5109m) – Kitandara Camp (4430m)
Very early in the morning you’ll attempt to summit the Margherita peak of Mount Stanley. The climb takes about 4-5 hours depending on the weather conditions and the pace.
This tough walk takes you over three glaciers, slippery rock, ice, and very exposed areas. We’ll climb onto the glaciers, cross the Stanley Plateau, and proceed with the ascent.
After acclimatizing to the fog, altitude sickness, and cool weather, we’ll scramble up to the Margherita summit, which is the highest peak of the Rwenzori mountains. The descent back to the Elena Hut will take you about 2-3 hours.

Kitandara (4430m) – Guy Yeoman (3261m)
From Kitandara, we’ll take the trail that ascends steeply up the headwall, spreading out from the base of Mount Baker and continuing along the south side of the mountain to Fresh Field Pass (4282m). From here you can view the Congo to the west and Mount Stanley to the north.
You’ll then start your descent through steep rocky trails and past the rock shelter at Bujongolo. This is the base camp for the historic expedition by the Duke of Abruzzi in 1906.
Hike duration: 6-7 hours.

Guy Yeoman (3261m) – Nyabitaba (2651m) – Mihunga Gate (1615m)
Below the Guy Yeoman Camp, the route descends through the cliffs of Kichuchu. Beyond Kichuchu the muddy path crosses the Mubuku River twice through a bamboo forest before climbing downwards to Nyabitaba to complete the circuit.
You’ll continue descending past the Nyabitaba Camp to complete your trek by the Mihunga Gate in the evening. This will conclude the climbing portion of the trip.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the community with a traditional dance celebrating your success on conquering the Rwenzori Mountains. Our guide driver will be waiting to transfer you to the town of Fort Portal.
Descent duration: 6-7 hours.

Kibale National Park
After a 5:00am breakfast, you will travel to Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking. The trek will start early and takes about two to three hours, depending on the location of the chimps.
After the trek, you will go back to the resort for lunch.
Please note that a doctor will come to the hotel to administer a PCR Covid-19 test today.
