You will spend the full day immersed in nature. Begin your day with an early morning breakfast before setting out with a packed lunch in hand for a comprehensive tour.
Meru National Park, which is renowned for its lions, holds a special connection to Elsa the lioness and the iconic film Born Free (1966). Starring Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers as Joy and George Adamson, the film tells the real-life story of raising Elsa, an orphaned lion cub, to adulthood. Elsa's Grave, located at the southern end of the park along the southern bank of the Ura River, stands as a testament to this legacy.
The park is recognized as one of the prime locations in Kenya to encounter rhinos in their natural habitat. The enclosed 83-square-kilometer Rhino Sanctuary is currently home to 34 black and 70 white rhinos.
Enjoy your packed lunch amidst the park's natural beauty and continue your exploration through game drives. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.

Opting for a slightly extended route via Lake Ellis offers captivating views of Mugi, Ithanguni, and the Giants Billiards Table. Alternatively, tracing the river near the roadhead upstream for about three kilometers provides enchanting foreground scenery and flora.
Lunch will be enjoyed on the banks of a stream, providing a moment of reprieve. Subsequently, we’ll navigate the left-hand hillside, reaching our camp at approximately 3,600 meters. This campsite is strategically located away from the more "touristy" areas.

After another early start, we’ll venture well off the beaten track, tracing a ridge up the mountain for approximately three hours. Eventually, we merge with the tourist track on the usual Chogoria route at an altitude of about 4,100 meters. The vantage point provides breathtaking views over the Gorges Valley and back towards Ithanguni and the Northern Moorlands. Lunch will be served at a tranquil stream crossing, followed by another hour of trekking to reach the Mintos Hut area at 4,200 meters for our night's rest.
The afternoon is dedicated to relaxation at the camp, but a brief 10-minute walk to the "Temple" is highly recommended. The "Temple" is a 150-meter vertical cliff, earning its name from the position visitors often adopt when peering over the edge, which resembles a prayer-like stance. Given the summit attempt the next day, an early night is advisable.

Mount Kenya
Mount Kenya is the second-highest mountain in Africa. The mountain has 12 remnant glaciers, all undergoing rapid recession, and features four secondary peaks positioned at the head of U-shaped glacial valleys.
The evolution and ecology of its afro-alpine flora provide an outstanding example of ecological and biological processes. The property encompasses not only the mountain itself but also lower lying scenic foothills and arid habitats of high biodiversity, including the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Ngare Ndare Forest Reserve. These areas are strategically situated in the ecological transition zone between the mountain ecosystem and the semi-arid savanna grasslands. Additionally, the region intersects with the traditional migrating route of the African elephant population.
After an early morning breakfast, you’ll descend for 2-3 hours to Old Moses camp, where a vehicle awaits to transfer you to Nyeri town for an overnight stay at 5,199 meters.
