Day 2

Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Today after breakfast, you will be picked up by your safari guide and drive to Amboseli National Park for the game drive. Your overnight stay will be at Amboseli Serena Lodge.

Amboseli National Park is in southern Kenya. It’s known for its large elephant herds. The name "Amboseli" comes from a Maasai word meaning "salty dust", and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulfur springs, the savannah, and woodlands. They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.

Today after breakfast, you will depart for Serengeti National Park via Ndutu with a picnic lunch box. Enjoy an afternoon game drive before moving onto Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge.

Today you will have a half-day game drive in Serengeti and then after lunch, drive to the rim of Ngorongoro Crater for your overnight stay at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

There are several documented resident lion prides just within a one-hour game drive radius from Seronera. During the dry season, the resident pride begin to shift west and north in their territories and concentrate in the central region of the park. The dry season is a particularly good time for lion viewing in Central Serengeti. Central Serengeti is also one of the best areas in Africa to spot the elusive leopard. You may be lucky enough to encounter this majestic cat in the branches of the sausage trees that dot the banks of the Seronera River.

At 6:30 am, have breakfast then descend into the crater for a crater game tour.
After lunch, drive back to Arusha and proceed to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight to Zanzibar. On arrival at Zanzibar, you will be met and transferred to Zanzibar Serena Inn for your overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis.

Often called the eighth Natural Wonder of the World, the Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact crater in the world. About 2 million years ago the Ngorongoro volcano erupted, and its walls collapsed. The volcano floor sank to create a natural enclosure with its 600 m tall walls. Now, at over 19 kilometers wide, Ngorongoro Crater is filled with great areas of acacia forest, hippo-filled swamps and open grasslands. These different habitats contain over 30,000 animals including elephants, warthogs, flamingoes, magnificent birdlife, the rare black rhinoceros, and all the predatory cats.

At 9:00 am you will be picked up from the hotel and taken on a Stone Tour which will take you through the fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. With visits to the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People's Palace), Dr Livingston's House and the Arab Fort amongst others. It is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. You will see Zanzibar's bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals and countless mosques.
After lunch, you will be taken by boat to Prison Island to see the turtles and you'll enjoy snorkeling. Later after the excursion, you will drive to Tui Blue Bahari Zanzibar.
