Day 1

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning, you will depart from Kampala and head westwards to Queen Elizabeth National Park through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside. This trip will include a lunch stop in Mbarara whereafter we continue through the savannah grasslands with lots of banana plantations. See several of the local long-horned Ankole cows indigenous to this part of the country.

Day 2

Chimpanzee Tracking in Kalinzu Forest & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Chimpanzee Tracking in Kalinzu Forest & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

After an early breakfast, you will proceed to Kalinzu Forest for chimpanzee tracking. You will return to the lodge after tracking the chimpanzees and then proceed to the jetty for a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel. The channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George. After the boat ride, go on an afternoon game drive.

Day 3

Drive to Bwindi Forest via Ishasha Sector

Drive to Bwindi Forest via Ishasha Sector

You will wake up very early and set off at 6:30 am for a morning game drive in the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Aim to catch sight of the early risers in their natural habitat. You can expect to see 4 of the Big 5 (elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard). Also look out for bushbuck, kob, giant forest hog, hyena, waterbuck, and many birds.

You will then head off to Bwindi via Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Be on the lookout for the tree-climbing lions that are famous in this sector. You will then proceed to Lake Bunyonyi which is an hour and 30 minutes away from Bwindi Forest National Park.

Day 4

Gorilla Trekking Experience & Lake Bunyonyi

Gorilla Trekking Experience & Lake Bunyonyi

This day is always regarded as the biggest day of all during the safari. You will head out to the park headquarters very early in the morning, arriving no later than 7:30 am. You will join other visitors for a briefing by one of the park staff and thereafter meet the lead guide who will take you into the forest to find the gorilla family that you will be allocated to. This may take between 2 to 7 hours round trip, depending on how far the family you are trekking has moved from where it was last seen.

Depending on how you feel, you may go out for an evening community walk through the villages very close to the forest (optional).

Day 5

Drive to Entebbe

Drive to Entebbe

After breakfast, you will depart Lake Bunyonyi and head to Kampala or Entebbe with a lunch stop in Mbarara. Also, have a stop at the equator for photos and some souvenir shopping if you wish. Continue to either Kampala or Entebbe. This will mark the end of your memorable safari of a lifetime.
