Day 1

Your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in the morning whereafter we drive to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at the Rhino Sanctuary. This 70-square-kilometer sanctuary is home to over 20 white rhinos and its main purpose is to reintroduce rhinos to Uganda. This is a very nice opportunity to observe the rhinos in their habitat at close range while on foot. After this, we will have a lunch stop and thereafter proceed to Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 2

Morning game drive & boat safari on the River Nile

Morning game drive & boat safari on the River Nile

You will wake up very early and set off at 6:30 am for a morning game drive on the Northern bank, returning to the lodge at around 11:00 am. We will see baboons, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kobs, hartebeests, oribis, waterbucks, bushbucks, reedbucks, warthogs and side-striped jackals. Carnivores include lions, leopards and spotted hyenas. After lunch, we will go to the jetty for an afternoon boat cruise on the River Nile where we can expect to see a number of hippos and crocodiles along the banks of the Nile.

You will also see birds like goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelicans, bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbills, cormorants, saddle-billed storks, and shoe-billed storks (if lucky). After 2 hours, you will be dropped at the bottom of the magnificent Murchison Falls. From there, you will hike up to the top of the falls where you will meet your driver-guide and thereafter drive back to the lodge.

Day 3

Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, you will depart from Murchison Falls and proceed to Kibale Forest National Park. We always regard this route as a full-day drive, depending on the condition of the road. You will arrive at Kibale at around 4:00 pm, allowing those who would like to go for a community walk to visit the crater lakes region with spectacular views of the lakes.

You will wake up early for breakfast and then we proceed to the park headquarters in Kibale Forest National Park. After a short briefing by one of the park staff, you will be allocated a guide who will lead you into the forest to find the chimpanzees.

This park is the only place in East Africa where one can have the best primate tracking viewing the chimpanzee, man’s closest relative. After watching the chimpanzees, you will go for lunch and thereafter proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 5

Morning game drive & boat safari on the Kazinga Channel

You will wake up very early and set off at 6:30 am for a morning game drive with the aim of catching sight of the early risers in their natural habitat. We can expect to see the Big 4 (elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard), as well as bushbuck, kob, giant forest hog, hyena, waterbuck and many birds. After lunch, we will head to the jetty for an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes Edward and George. Expect to see a number of animals along the bank and a variety of waterbirds.

Today, you will set off quite early with a packed breakfast and head out for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park to catch sight of the early risers. We can expect to see a number of elephants, buffaloes, lions, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, leopards, and hyenas. Thereafter, we will proceed to Bwindi Forest National Park.

This day is always regarded as the biggest of all the days on the safari. After breakfast, you will head out to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by one of the park staff. Meet with the lead guide who will take you into the forest to find the gorilla family that you will be allocated to. This may take between 2 and 7 hours round trip, depending on how long the family you are trekking will have moved from where it was seen yesterday. After the experience, you will proceed to Lake Bunyonyi Kabale where you will relax as you enjoy the beautiful views of the lake.

Day 8

After breakfast, we will do a morning game drive as we depart from Lake Bunyonyi for Kampala with a lunch stop in Mbarara. We will also stop at the equator for photos and some souvenir shopping if you like. This will also mark the end of your memorable safari of a lifetime.
