Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
After breakfast, you will drive directly to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you will stop at the viewpoint overlooking the Ngorongoro Crater before descending into the crater itself. The crater is the world's largest intact volcanic caldera, covering an impressive area of about 265km²/102mi². Its walls reach up to 600m/2,000ft, home to approximately 30,000 mammals.
The crater offers breathtaking scenery and is the best location in East Africa to see the Big Five—elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion and leopard. Any safari in northern Tanzania should ideally include visiting the Ngorongoro Crater.
In addition to its wildlife, the Ngorongoro Crater is a fantastic spot for birdwatching, with over 500 species recorded. Enjoy a packed picnic lunch at a designated picnic site before you continue your game drive until late afternoon. Afterward, you will ascend the crater and drive straight to Arusha, where your adventure with us will end.
