We will pick you up from your hotel by our driver and brought to the office to meet your guide and briefing. Board a public shuttle van (Private transfers can be arranged at an extra cost) and leave Nairobi by 8am heading to Nanyuki town a 4 hour drive from Nairobi. You will have lunch at a local restaurant before proceeding to Sirimon Gate. (Incase you need to hire climbing gear, this will be done at the town center). Proceed to Sirimon Gate for registration. Follow the track as it winds uphill through the forest which becomes heathland after about 3 to 4 hours with an elevation gain of 680m. The track veers right to Judmier/ Old Moses Camp where you will be setting camp and dinner.

Old Moses to Shipton Camp (4200m) - 7 hours, 14km, 900m ascent
Following breakfast, we continue our ascent, taking the right fork at a junction. After a water break, we follow the trail, crossing Ontulili River and then contouring through the Moorland. We cross Liki North River and continue uphill to Mackinders Valley, where panoramic views of the Shipton Campsite and its towering peaks and glaciers greet us. Shipton Campsite is a surreal setting inhabited by rock hyraxes and sunbirds.

Acclimatization Day at Shiptons Camp Hiking Mt Kenya
Following breakfast, we continue our ascent, taking the right fork at a junction. After a water break, we follow the trail, crossing Ontulili River and then contouring through the Moorland. Alternative Option: You can opt to summit on this day and descent to Mintos Hut Campsite at 4200m for the night. This option would comfortably shorten the long walk from the summit to Mt. Kenya Bandas and allow you more time to enjoy the most scenic views on the Chogora Route.

Shipton to Point Lenana (4985m) to Mt Kenya Bandas (2900m) -11-12 hrs, 785m ascent, 2085m descent
Begin your ascent at 3 a.m. to reach Point Lenana in time for the mesmerizing African sunrise. The climb commences on frozen scree and continues on a rocky path, featuring some minor scrambling. If the moon is bright, a torch may not be necessary. The absence of light pollution allows for a stunning view of the stars, making it one of the best stargazing spots on Earth. The climb takes 3-4 hours, and on clear nights, you can even spot Mt. Kilimanjaro on the horizon. Descend to Minto's Hut for a full breakfast, and after a short rest, continue descending to Mt. Kenya Bandas through the Gorges valley. Along the way, you'll enjoy splendid views of the Temple, Lake Michaelson, Mushroom rocks, and Giant's Billiards Table Mountain. Dinner and overnight stay at Mt. Kenya Bandas campsite.

Meru Bandas to Chogoria Town - 2 hours, 10km to Nairobi
After enjoying your last breakfast, you will walk down by trekking for 2 hours, 15km to the forest clearance. The remaining part distance of approximately 16km is by vehicle to Chogoria town where you will connect with your transfer vehicle (Public shuttle Van) back to Nairobi. Expect to arrive in Nairobi by 3p marking the end of your adventure. Thank you and hope to have you back again.
